[IC] Orbit R2 || GB is live now!
« on: Thu, 17 October 2024, 10:47:15 »

    Orbit R2
    Designed by Machina

    UPDATE 10-17-24

Hello keyboard friends, I'm very excited to share more details about the upcoming Orbit R2.

The last Orbit group buy went really well, and I’ve received so many DMs about R2—huge thanks to everyone who made it happen!

For the R2 design, I’ve taken a lot of feedback from R1 users to make it even better.
    Some key changes include:
    1. replacing the long feet with 4 short ones
    2. adjusting mounting positions
    3. ensuring full compatibility with R1 components.
    4. Geon's Venom HE pcb support

    About the name
The external curves and internal pattern give me an astronomy vibe, I hope this keyboard is also in your orbit :)
The look of this keyboard is influenced by the HHKB series (HG variant and Pro2).

She's a bit pricey, but looks lovely. I can't say I'm on board, but I definitely like it.

My copper bottom orbit has been amazing. If you missed out on the R1 for this board I can't recommend it enough. The best use of tadpole mount I have used.

Had to miss out on R1. Definitely going to enter R2.

Which review units are planned and for which content creators?

Are you stuck using 7u with hotswap PCB? That's what it looks like from the r1's page atleast.

What configuration is for the 2.6kg full built. Would be nice to have some led indicators for the hotswap pcb for caps at least.

I ordered the last week of May 2023 and it arrived in Seattle on the first week of March 2024. It would have arrived about a month sooner, but there were issues with the bottom finish I ordered. But Ra66it handled the issue gracefully and promptly so no complaints from me.
