Help with IBM M2 Keyboard - Ribbon to board

Hi,

I've got a lovely IBM M2 keyboard. It works perfectly apart from the fact I cannot get the board to make good contact with the ribbon as all of the tabs that hold the board down onto the foam/ribbon are broken.
There's no room to use screws to hold the board down onto the ribbons.

I'd like to think outside the box and see if I can get the ribbon cables physically connected to the board somehow. Does anyone have any advice on how I can do this because it would be a massive shame to scrap the keyboard?

Obviously I can't really solder the ribbons onto the board because I'll ruin them.

Awww.. It is almost impossible to open one of those without breaking at least one tab somewhere.

Theoretically, I think it should be possible to "bolt mod" the connector, or even the whole keyboard.
That is, replacing each snap with a bolt and nut.
In the case of that connector, fashion some kind of plate that you'd fasten with bolts over the connector to keep it tight.

The problem is, there isn't space for bolts to go in front of the circuit board, nor off to the side.

I was thinking could I get connectors for the ribbons and somehow solder the connectors to the board and feed the ribbons into the connectors instead. Are connectors in standard lengths?
