Pc reveal clicky keyboard ergonomic

Seller is ncbound10, I was interested and since he claims 'shipping worldwide' I wanted to ask for a shipping quote. By no means was I able to contact him, everytime I get this:

It has got "ALPS clicky textile sliders".

Not that the click would be in the sliders in normal clicky ALPS switches, but these sliders are made of "clicky textile", so I suppose that they must be extra clicky. :-P

I'd say the layout is pretty different and it lacks the badass [esc] :P. As a matter of fact though, I'm currently trying to buy one from C-Techsys.com, however all of the email addresses there bounce.

Upon WHOISing the website I discovered they should probably omit the dash, I have yet to receive a response though.

I did get a response from him re international shipping:
"I usually have the shipping for international trade. It will be
$40.20."

That was for a request of information about shipping to the UK.  I might try bidding, as I've had a response reasonably quickly on this.

It went unsold.
The Omnikey Evolution is nice, but it's got a few annoying features, including the layout. The arrow keys on the PC Reveal are where you expect them. But the Evolution has a full-sized backpace key, while the Reveal has a tiny one.

I decided not to bid on this one because importing stuff (even second hand goods) into the UK incurs random taxes that I don't entirely understand (and can work out quite surprisingly expensive).  If it appears again for a lower price then I might be more inclined; ideally I'd just find boards from within the EU but that's harder for more obscure setups.  I'd really like to get a proper ergo mechanical keyboard

Looks like same reserve price, plus I ebayed another board in the meantime, so I won't be bidding...

If anyone picks this up then I'd be interested to see what they think of it.  It looks similar to the Northgate Omnikey Evolution, which I've heard good things about.  I wonder if it lives up to that.  I'd much rather have a split layout, all other things being equal.

Double shots - very nice!  Is it pleasant to type on?  On a few occasions in the past I've regularly typed on natural keyboard-type layouts and I've always ended up missing them - I think the split aspect of the layout is what I miss most of all but I'd also miss mechanical keys having got used to them ;-)

The problem with this keyboard is two-fold.

1.) Keys stick when hit on a corner--think Cherry ML
2.) The backspace key is half-size

That (and the split layout) means that you make more mistakes, and when you try to correct those mistakes you hit the wrong key.

I think I could love this keyboard, if I dedicated about two weeks to training myself to use it without errors. But I don't want to do that, so it sits in my "very occasional use" pile next to the KB-5181 and NMB RT101.

Bwuh? I have to disagree. My ML board has one of the most dependable feels I've ever had, with nearly zero horizontal play in the sliders. Doesn't seem to matter when I hit them on the corner or dead on.

No, I meant ML. Typing on it again... It doesn't really bind up like MLs do, not nearly that bad, but there's definitely a little friction there. I probably wouldn't notice it at all, except that the split layout means that I'm hitting keys off center a lot more than usual.

It is nice. Just as I said, you'd have to use it consistently for a bit to get used to it, which isn't worth it to me.

Probably VAT on the price with shipment included (since the US is a non-VAT country), then customs duty on the whole thing. It can turn any bargain into a cash dumping ground. Sometimes it won't be charged, e.g. when you're bringing stuff with you or getting it as a gift or in other situations depending on the customs service's discretion, so sometimes they do waive some of the public burdens at least here. There might be some other quirks in specific EU countries, e.g. the effects of local jurisprudence.
