I never got used to that layout. That spacebar is no longer than the left shift key too!

That looks like a sexy keyboard.

It says it has NKRO, however sounds like it only has PS2 interface (not usb by default).

It also doesn't say if it would work if using ps2 to usb adapter in case future motherboards don't have the ps2 interface.

Is that red background just the backplate color, or is it led lighting :d ?

What key print are they using ?

And important of all, how much is it :X

*just noticed something. That spacebar sure is small :d gasp

Looks like it's about $310 USD. Definitely sexy, but since I'm guessing it isn't available outside of Asia, doesn't seem like a viable option for the US or Europe. Is it even available outside of Japan?

Definitely good to see some Realforce innovation happening though.

Liking the fact that you can block the windows key, even if i like my windows key.
Wondering if I can make the sacrifice to get one of these, loving the looks of it!

And Moogle, I think the spacebar is small due to a japanese layout?

Here's a question for the hardware modders: would it be possible to make a larger space bar for that keyboard that would take the place of the current space bar and the empty-round-thingy key right of it? That would make this keyboard usable for me.

I dunno but I do know that others have mapped the two surrounding keys to trigger the space bar as well so hitting any of the 3 results in a space.

Unless it's manufactured for said purpose, nope. It's made specifically for the JIS standard layout.

That keyboard has specific dialect modifiers and looks like an additional key for a Function feature; Muhenkan and Kana.

Either way looking at it from a standpoint, it's not a bad thing. Backspace and enter is also interesting to think about.

People like their large backspace but I notice that not only do I hit the backspace more towards the right side rather than closer and the enter key same. In a way the JIS layout isn't all that bad for BS/Enter and even the space bar in a way is excessively large. Always been a fan of the UK/JIS enter key.

The space bar always seems to be kinda debated some complaining it doesn't sit so flush or it's hard to remove because of the stabilizers and all that. Either way seems kinda like a waste it's not like you need most of it to use the space bar. Could add more function keys like Fn, Meta etc.etc.

May I ask why? I see many people saying the same, but don't recall anyone saying why they like those styles of Enter key.

The spacebar on that board seems to be small even by Japanese standards.
E.g. Here's a cheap one I've bought for playing with:

It's a question of do you want an oversized space bar or the surrounding keys to be generously sized. I hit the bar below the N, so I would just about be OK. And I could certainly put the extra keys to good use.

That wouldn't work in my case, because my thumb hits the space bar right between the two keys I mentioned.

I have used Japanese keyboards in the past, but none had a space bar as small as the one Topre uses.

When I said '2 surrounding keys' I meant the 2 keys to the right and left of the spacebar, including the one you mentioned. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

I'm the one who wasn't clear. In my case, my thumb landing in between the keys would end up activating both of them sometimes, producing two spaces. Not to mention how uncomfortable it would be.

I suppose it could be possible to glue the keys together, filling the gap with some kind of hard resin. Then I would just tell the machine to ignore the extra scancode. But hardware hacking is not my specialty and I would hesitate before subjecting a $300+ keyboard to this kind of treatment.

I'd say more primarily out of looks because it's much different than the standard and it gives it a neater appearance.

But I notice a lot of times when I hit enter I will sweep my fingers across and down. So yes I do hit enter but enter could be reached over with less effort. As silly as it sounds I just find it a bit annoying to curl down my fingers every so often on top of the Shift keys and period.

Hm well  my left hand tends to hover/lie on the wasd keys (probably i game a lot that i got the habit).

So thumb rest just nicely on the left far edge of the spacebar.

But looking at that Topre, my thumb would be on the non space bar key which would be weird to me :/ cauz then i'd have to rest my hand on r d f g instead :/ and that to me is totally unacceptable >-<;

Maybe they felt that normal typist would rest their fingers on the asdfg  jkl; keys :X however i'm a non standard typist, and my left and right hands tend to have the thumbs at the far corners of the spacebar most of the time.

So anyway for gaming it's gonna be a problem :X me thinks.
