I read the same thing this morning.

I was surprised it wasn't posted here already. Maybe no one was able to post it in a cloudy morning

It's neat, but chiclet keys make me shudder. The efficiency is cool but the price is fairly high and my experience with wireless Logitech keyboards in the past makes me completely averse to ever buying another.

Seems like it would be useful paired with a tablet PC, but I don't see the point otherwise. How many watts does a keyboard actually draw? Seems like almost any other component in the computer would be a better target for power savings.

Powered by the sun hm.... nice.

The question is, who uses keyboards under the open sky and bright sun ? Will light from the window be sufficient;y bright enough i wonder ? My room has power natural lighting coming in.

I guess the other thing besides laundry being hung out, would be the keyboard right next to it :D Only problem is, people may be tempted to jump over your fence and poach your keyboard !!

I wonder if the common fluorescent light are enough to power it.
If it can be powered by the common fluorescent light like ur average calculators, it will be a decent keyboard for green people.

“The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard is powered by light but can work in total darkness for up to three months."

"Calling the K750 solar powered is a bit of a misnomer since the keyboard can charge itself from indoor lighting, unlike most solar-powered devices"

Not to be outdone, theres also this...

Call us crazy, but we're sensing a trend. Just hours after Logitech came forward with its solar-powered desktop keyboard, in flies AUO with something similar for laptops. Demonstrated alongside its deadzone-free 3D panel at FPD International 2010, the 14-inch solar-powered touch keyboard laptop solution (it's a working title, folks) is meant to be integrated into laptops in order to cut power usage by as much as 20 percent. So far as we can tell, a solar module is built within the laptop's lid and its keyboard panel, and the touch-sensitive overlay enables light to travel through while giving you a totally outlandish typing experience -- something akin to the Libretto W105, most likely. There's no word on a scheduled release date or price, but we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for a nearby prototype.

This other solution seems much better. Powering the keyboard is one thing, but helping power/reduce the power consumption of the laptop is a much more innovative use of solar power if you ask me :D

PS: ichirichi have i mentioned to you before your avatar sorta reminds me of Spock from Startrek :} ? (compliment by the way)

Solar-powered calculators work indoors... but I imagine 2.4GHz radio uses a wee bit more power.

Heres the first review

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1475/1/

The reviewers findings seem to indicate that a month without light wasn't possible after all. The estimate was it could last without any light for at least 10 days or so :x but still pretty impressive.

looks impressive , wireless keyboards have always been a bit of a joke what with the changing of the batteries and what not. Can't say i will ever buy a keyboard that isn't wireless but it sure looks nice , almost apple like.Whether the function matches the looks remains to be seen.

The wireless/battery aspects of Logitech's diNovo Edge are good. It's got rechargeable battery and a charging stand.
