Do you mean the deal or the mouse?

I hate to be fanboyish but I've heard not so great things about Razer reliability. There's a reason 20% of all the reviews are one star.

It seems like half of the positive reviews of their mice are along the lines of "this mice rulez! one of the buttons stopped working after 2 months but its still the best mouse i ever had."

Their big selling point seems to be that they send women to gaming conventions without any pants.

"There's a reason 20% of all the reviews are one star." I bet their dentists don't recommend Trident, either. You can't make everyone happy. Have these people not seen the women without pants? Do they not know their mouse rulez? What moar do they want?

I had this mouse, after a year the rubber coating started coming off and it was gross.

The sensor was prone to interference from dust too.

TBH, I just posted this on here because the mouse is usually 80 dollars. 40 is about right for this mouse, and I figured maybe a few people on here would want to pick one up.

Used this mouse while staying at a friend's in NL when I was there for a LAN - and I didn't like it. Not sure if it had accel on it, but I think it was just really skippy. Not sure what else is in the $40 range either, but i'd still go for an MX518 over this.

Nice find though and bro like behaviour, codechef!

I'm bother by the fact that Razer has somehow made me hostile to the idea of half-naked women dancing around.

(my posts are intended to be ripping on razer, not the OP)

I had one that came in and left on eBay.  I used it off and on for about a month.  I really wanted to like the Lachesis, but just couldn't figure out how to hit the side buttons without my hand cramping.  Most awkward shaped mouse I've ever owned.  I did actually like the in game performance of it, until I had to use a side button that is.  I've got fairly large hands as well, but just couldn't get it.

1) It's quite true, Razer seems to be marketing their brand more than their actual products.

2) Don't worry about it, I'm from 4chan. "OP is a ***got" is the polite way to thank the author there.

No, I prefer reddit these days (although sometimes I'm surprised what shows up there).

The only time I go on reddit is to check out the... ah... JuiceBar section.

Reddit is going downhill...

And the Starcraft section hurts my head most of the time.

Love Lachesis.  Technologically there's few mice better for the price.  The internal programability, dpi, and amount of buttons are ideal. Still $40 is more than I paid for mine that I turned into a trackball and have been using daily for a year or two now to rock Warrock.  It'd have to come down to $20-30 for me to buy another one and make another trackball out of it.

If anyone has a broken one that has something wrong with the case/buttons  I'd buy it off them for that price, since my conversion doesn't really care about the buttons.

I've replaced all the side microswitches with blue alps switches on mine. lol

I'm amazed anyone would make a mod like that just to play Warrock.

It's the only way you can really fly jets there.  It works great with choppers as well.  Joysticks have never worked properly there, and mice have limits of course, so you can't turn infinitely.  As far as flying a jet a trackball turns out not to be such a bad device as you might think.  I'm actually super skilled with it and can do maneuvers that would be tough to pull off with a joystick.  I have pin point accuracy for strafing, flying backwards is no problem, I can dodge 95% of stingers, and my barrel rolls are renowned. lol  I average at least a 5 to 1 kill ratio in the air, and that's with stacked teams and hackers.

I have had a thread for a long time in the trackball section here.  It doesn't show how I updated the switches to alps, but you should get the idea.

Btw, if anyone cares, the reason why the Lachesis is so cheap is because Razer came out with a new one with a better sensor. This is the old version. The price is probably going to last until they run out of stock.
