When I had the STN one of the top keys was jammed full of hair, even after I puled it out the key would not sit flat. Who here has long brown hair?

Who knows. Maybe it was pubic hair.

I received the numpad earlier this week when rumblings of a Canada Post strike came to light.  I PM'd SirClickAlot about it and he told me to hold onto it until the strike is over, lest an irate postal worker makes it disappear.

Initial impressions:
Clears:  The clear switches on the STN are not as smooth and nice as on my G80 with clears.  The ramp feels scratchy, but I don't want to open up these switches to check since they're not mine.
Blacks:  Definitely feel like linear clears.
Reds:  Interesting, since I prefer tactile feedback and didn't like the linear green Alps board I've got.  Very light and smooth
Browns:  I was most interested to try these switches.  Pressing slowly they feel like light clears, pressing quickly they feel like dirty reds.
Blues:  I've "tried" these through the box of a Black Widow and could feel the lagged reset point and wasn't impressed.  The blues in the STN feel better, but now there's no box dampening the switch chatter.  It really sounds like the light and hard plastic jumping bean rattles around once it jumps, rather than coming to an abrupt stop.  I really do prefer the more solid tone of my complicated Alps, and the complete lack of jumping bean hysteresis, but that might change with time spent with a full blue board.

I'm still unsure if the next board I buy will have blues or browns in it.  I'd like to give ergo clears a try since I've got the clears now, but I'd rather gut a brown board to do it than neuter a blue board.  The proper answer is obviously to get both and take turns with them, but I've got a lot of competing expenses for the foreseeable future.

I'll dig out my green board and clean switches to test.  The springs are different, but I can't remember if they're lighter or stronger.  I think I documented some of it in the Alps wiki comments section.

ah, just found this sinklist.  I signed up for the other one (STB), but this one looks like it might be a bit better for testing out which switch(es) I'd want to buy.   Is this sinklist still active?  It looks like it might have gone home and been sitting there for 4ish months.   If its going to start up again i'd probably have my name moved over to this one.

The STN is still not at its home base.... It's been a while since it vanished out of canada. Soon I will have to start an investigation as to the whereabouts of the STN. Luckily it was posted with tracking but that only shows it left canada about a month ago.

Regards.

That's not good.  I scribbled/scratched out the old addresses on the box when I sent it to you, hoping that some postal numpty wouldn't get confuzzled. :(

IT ARRIVED!

Yooo hooooooo! :-)

Now I am pondering as to what to do with it next. Might put non-cherry switches in there. Wondering if that would work with my mediocre soldering skills....

Wonderful keypad you have there. Nice video also.

I would love to get this thing one day. My place seems to be near you. Are you still shipping it?

Nice edit.

Watching that video inevitably gives the following ideia: if there's a lot of people in the list, then imposing a logistically good order of dispatching (overwriting the previous "first come first served" order) might achieves less overall waiting time and less overall shipping costs as well, thus speeding up the whole process, with the cost of added complexity to the system and added waiting time/shipping cost for some people (despite the total waiting time/shipping costs being lesser).

Several things might change for the next iteration of the Switch Try Numpad :

1. Decentralized control -> Ceesa over at deskthority.net proved this method to be pretty fast and secure ( Link here ). This would mean the participants on the list will have to figure out for themselves who they send the sinklist item to. They just need to check the sinklist which I will maintain.
2. No FCFS ( First Come First Serve ) anymore. The sinklist will start sometime and participants will be added until it is sent out for the first time. The order in which the sinklist item will be sent is largely influenced by geographic constraints so the overall followed route will be close to optimal. ( Like furuya pointed out ) I already implemented this on a smaller scale ( I reordered sinklist members according to their location ).
3. The STN will have more diverse keyswitches
4. In the future I'd like to have a major sinklist item per continent , so the sinklist item stays in that continent indefinitely.
5. Sinklist item threads will be merged : this will make overall sinklist maintenance less of a hassle.
6. I will add the following requirement to participate : You PLEDGE you will send the sinklist item out to the next member within 2 days(!) after receiving it.
7. I'd like to create a website to track the sinklist items so you can see the path it followed ( from city to city detail ). Any web-developers willing to help me out with this are very welcome(!) since I lack the skills to create it myself.

Regards.
