Story behind the set:
I love the design language behind older Macintosh keyboards, but I found the tactile experience rather underwhelming. I wanted something I could use with other mechanical keyboards, but had a difficult time finding the right profile for the design. Something a bit low, but comfortable and clean-looking. Enter PBS.

What is PBS?

“PBS, short for ‘Penguin Belly Slide’, is a uniform keycap profile–every row has the same height. The profile is designed by Matt3o, and manufactured by Keyreative. PBS uses a combination of a cylindrical front and back with a spherical top scoop. The result is a wide scooped contact area at the top, which enables a comfy and ergonomic typing experience.”

• PBT • 1.5mm thick blanks • Dyesub and reverse dyesub • Concave and convex available • Massive layout support • Concave max height of 7.43mm • Convex max height of 7.91mm

Kitting:

There will be 2 base kits offered: a regular base kit and a 40s/ortho base kit.

Additionally, there are 2 collaboration kits that will be offered: a Minimi40 kit and Altair kit. These will be available as add-ons to their corresponding keyboards.

Colors:

The keycaps are white with bluish gray legends. The shade of white will be matched with the white Minimi40, which is a bright, neutral white. I’d be interested in offering other color versions of the set in the future, so please let me know if you’d be interested in the IC form.


Other notes:

The base kits were designed to provide a large range of compatibility. The collaboration kits are designed to cover the main layouts of specific keyboards, so the compatibility is more limited. Also, despite preferring bar-homing keycaps myself, they did look a bit odd because of the position of the legends, so I decided on scooped homing keys only.
