Keychron stuck key
« on: Tue, 16 December 2025, 10:26:04 »
I have a Keychron K10 C3 Full-Size Mechanical Keyboard with Gateron G Pro Brown switches and an aluminum frame.

Recently, my left Ctrl key got stuck. When I removed the keycap and pressed the switch stem, it felt very weak, with little return force. I tested the right Ctrl key, and it felt much more responsive, so the issue seems isolated.

I suspect the spring may be misaligned or dry. I often carry the keyboard in my backpack with my laptop, so it's possible the key was pressed or knocked during transport, but I’m not entirely sure.

I plan to disassemble the keyboard, desolder the faulty switch, and open it to inspect whether I can repair the spring or if it needs to be replaced.

I also had a bigger idea — to replace all the switches with ones that have higher-tension springs or heavier actuation force, since I have a mild hand palsy. Sometimes, my fingers rest on the keys unintentionally, causing unwanted keypresses.

I'm very comfortable with soldering, so doing a full switch replacement isn’t an issue.

My questions:

Am I nuts for replacing all the switches?

What’s a good source for switches?

Should I just replace the faulty switch and move on?

Is it worth trying contact cleaner in case it's just debris in the switch?

Thanks in advance,
—Carroll

Building a custom board is way more time-consuming than I thought! I remember being stuck for days on my first build while trying to keep up with college assignments at the same time. It’s tough to balance such a hobby with academic deadlines.

If you're feeling overwhelmed with your workload while trying to finish this project, using a https://essaypro.com/scholarship-essay-writing-service can really help free up some time so you can focus on your build.

By the way, have you double-checked the solder joints or the firmware mapping? Sometimes a tiny bridge or a wrong keymap config is all it takes to cause these issues.
