AURUM

by RAE - INSTAGRAM FACEBOOK DISCORD WEBSITE | IC FORM

Hey everyone, this is the Aurum, RAE’s next keyboard. It’s a 60% that carries a design language that’s quite personal to me.

The inspiration came from something I see often in my jewellery work, a gold bar. I’ve always liked its clean geometry and the warmth gold has, and I wanted to see if that feeling could be translated into a keyboard.

From the lines that define its silhouette to the way the brass weight sits against the body, Aurum is my attempt at translating that sense of permanence and restraint into a physical design.

RAE is a name that means a lot to me personally. It was originally named after my sons. My co-founder later suggested we give the letters a broader meaning, and that’s how Refined Artistic Engineering came about.

Our goal was never to just make something that looks nice or "premium". We wanted to build something we’d genuinely enjoy using ourselves, and hopefully something that connects with people who share this passion as deeply as we do.

Aurum is our take on that idea.

It took time, a year's worth of revisions, and plenty of second-guessing to get right, and we’re genuinely excited to finally share it with you.
