Story


One of the great things about custom keyboards, aside from the sound and feel, is the visual appeal. There is something special in keyboard design, and the weight engravings always left a strong impression on me.
It truly is an elegance unique to this community. Around a year ago, inspired by all that I had seen, this project began with the basic premise of side weights.

It has been a long journey. Many things were new to me, and it was a challenge, but I loved doing it. I will continue working until it is finished, and I hope the community appreciates it too.

Because of the extra weights, there is some added complexity to the assembly process. Below is an exploded diagram:



I was able to verify the assembly using a quick 3D-printed mockup. Since the model is officially feasible, I plan to have a true prototype machined soon.

Update: 6/20/2026

Hey everyone, it's been a while, but I've brought along several changes. This project is an ongoing one, and I expect there to be more tweaks in the future.

• Typing Angle: Adjusted to 9° to balance usability with design
• Renders: Completely revamped the renders to be more aesthetically pleasing, as well as incorporating the new typing angle
• Form/Feedback: Adjusted the feedback form, especially regarding feedback on the engravings
• Information: Added more technical/general information on the post

• Vendor: Collaboration with Unikeys
• 3D-Printed Mockup: Assembly design tested & verified
• Bottom Weight Redesign: Improved engraving based on feedback. Only updated one render for now
