I used Epomaker's keyboards in the past, remember especially Galaxy80, which was fantastic, build-wise, typing feel and sound.
For some reason not all keyboards give that amazing deep thock sound. I guess its a matter of case shape, additional multi layers of foams etc
People say that switches make difference - I maybe use different switches, but I cannot tell the difference between different kinds of switches, if they make different sound. For me when keyboard makes thocky sounds, it will make with any switches. Caps may have influence - when I mount SA keycaps, they definitely will sound thockier than Cherry profiles.
So recently I've been using Epomaker TH87 keyboard. It has incredible value - not expensive, but let you get that sweet thockiness
It came with Jade switches, but if you read any of my previous reviews, you will know that I prefer heavy switches, 80g+, so I mounted modded Oil Kings with 85g 22mm springs.
Keyboard has RGB leds if you like that, I always turn it off, no need for it, but if you have transparent caps, it will look nice.
Build is very simple, but still has all those layers of foams, films and whatever you would like to have there. I prefer plastic keyboards as they make better deeper sound.
This is exactly what I like in sound - one of the thockiest keyboards I used.
Also, I must mention stabilisers - this is a nightmare of mine since I started my mech keyboards hobby. I never had keyboard that has well made, modded stabs, always was something wrong with it, like either a bit wobbly, or making weird noises, or not lubed properly etc This one is ready out of the box. I always check stabs first - so all were fine - spacebar for sure, doesn't sound hollow, makes just perfect thock noise. Other stabs as well - backspace and enter feel great.
It has a battery and all other bells and whistles, but I don't care about those, I always use cable and prefer minimalistic character of boards, so only switched off the leds and its all good
Would I change anything? Well, it would be nice to get those in different colors, as it only comes in white. When it fits nicely with the keycaps it comes with, if you want to swap caps with other sets you have, it would be nice to have black version for example.
In summary - if you looking for a budget keyboard (
$76), that makes nice thocky sound and doesn't need any modding or adjusting, TH87 is one of those.
