(IC) KŌBŌ ISSHI — Exploring Stone as a 65% Keyboard
« on: Sat, 13 June 2026, 11:23:00 »

Hello Everyone,

What began as a simple curiosity with stone evolved into a two year-long obsession.

Today, I’m proud to present the KOSANJI case — a 65% exploration into marble as a keyboard.

Available in both Carrara White and India Green.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Specifications 仕様

Layout Compatible with most 65% PCBs and plates, including KDFans’ DZ65 and YMD-65% ZJ68 by YMDK
         Dimensions 340 Χ 145 mm
         Typing Angle
         Front Height ~20 mm approx.
         Mounting Style Tray mount
Finish Polished and sealed for protection, durability, and a smooth desk-ready finish
         Weight Estimate ~2.0 kg approx.
Standoffs Threaded screw-in standoffs — can be screwed in or removed for assembly and/or maintenance
Top Design Raised forehead + functional pen groove for balance and utility
Uniqueness Each case is shaped from a single block of marble, with natural variations in grain and veining — making every KOSANJI case visually unique

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Stone Variants 石の種類

Carrara White A classic Italian marble featuring soft grey veining on a clean white base. Refined, subtle, and timeless.
India Green A darker, more textured stone with deep forest tones and mineral complexity — visually striking yet balanced.

Each case is shaped in-house from a single block of marble, with natural variations in grain and veining — making every KOSANJI case visually unique.

Inspiration 着想

I’ve always admired the Japanese approach to craft — treating tools with intention, allowing materials to guide the process, and accepting that refinement takes time.

Working with stone forced that mindset. It doesn’t bend easily to direction. It reacts, resists, and asks for patience. Precision meets unpredictability — both the challenge and the appeal.

Key Information 重要情報

  Units 50 Χ Carrara White / 50 Χ India Green
Availability Additional units may be produced if demand exceeds the initial allocation.
Pricing Carrara White — $249 USD
India Green — $249 USD
Shipping $50 USD for the case (wrist rest will be a little extra) I’m based in Thailand, and due to the weight, shipping is costly, but I will do my best to absorb anything above the $50 charge within reasonable limits.
Production Lead Time 90 days from the close of GB.
  What's Included 1 Χ 65% marble case, 1 Χ aluminium USB port, 4 Χ self-adhesive silicone rubber feet, and standoffs.
Update** Due to the number of recent requests, matching marble wrist rests will also be offered during the GB.
Update** Risers will be optional. Some interested parties have requested a flat base, so that option will also be available during the GB.

If you have questions or thoughts, I’d love to hear them — your feedback will directly influence how the KOSANJI case takes its final form.

Thank you for reading this far. Truly!

I will be uploading sound tests to Discord this coming weekend. Feel free to drop by and say hello in the meantime.

Lovely board - It reminds me of the marble TKL but I didn't like the plastic cover they had on that, which this fixes. Wrist wrest would be a must for this one!

It would be nice to customise the usb-c port at the back, as the gold is really not for me. Black or white would be nice as options, or none (if that's even possible)

Update** Risers will be optional. Some interested parties have requested a flat base. No issues on my side. The option will be available on the GB.

Thank you kindly for the feedback!

I do remember the TKL one, and I very much agree. I’ll definitely give TKL a go next year, but it’s probably the final boss of marble builds due to the need for a two-layer design.

Wrist rests will also be available during the GB. I’m working through the CAD now, then I’ll make a few prototypes and add them to the thread as soon as possible.

Regarding the USB-C port, no issue at all if you’d prefer not to include the aluminium piece. The port opening (tunnel section) is a little tricky to polish cleanly because of the size, which is why the aluminium insert helps mask that area. But if that’s not a concern for you, then all good.

I can still send the aluminium piece with the case anyway, and you could customise it however you prefer. For example, you could spray it with metallic paint until you find a colour that suits your build best. No harm in having options.  :thumb:
