Any model Ms (or terminals) with white cursor keys?
« on: Thu, 11 November 2010, 17:11:58 »
This is my version of a pimped out AT Model F, UK ISO style...

No numpad as such, it's more focussed on my cursors-in-the-home-row fetish.

Anyway, I'm thinking it would be the icing on the cake to highlight the cursors (or perhaps the whole 4x2 block of navigation keys) in white.

What are my chances of finding white versions of those keys? They all seem to be grey...

Exactly those keys? I don't know. German Ambra was white:

Ooh, good call, thanks. Those white keys look a lot whiter than the 'white' IBM keys though, are the IBM ones actually beige or 'pearl white' or something?

You might want to try contacting Unicomp, or checking with Fentek:

Don't know if they will do just a set of arrow keys, but it's worth a shot...

Thanks, seems like Fentek call them 'off-white'.

And Unicomp (why didn't I think of them?!) list this:

Looks toothpaste-advert-white rather than off-white though. :-'D

They also, IIRC, helped iMav out with some custom keys. So an email to them might not be a waste of time :-)

It might seem like I'm being fussy - and I am! But if I can't have them match the letter keys, I think I'd rather just keep them grey.

lowpoly - re. 'exactly those keys' - if you mean the tab and backtab that I've used as home and end, then no, I'd be happy with 'home' and 'end' legends.

I honestly can't decide which of these looks better, but I'm veering towards a stripe of 8 off-white keys because it looks less 'customized' (I'm not a fan of lilac WASD keys and the like)... I dunno...

Unicomp ivory keys are just like IBM ivory keys.

Sure, but I don't think those keys on the Wildcats board are ivory.
And otherwise, cursors are grey.
But thanks for the input.
