Here's another set of switches I tried recently.
As you probably noticed from my posts here, I like linear switches. I have recently bought few of Keychron keyboards and tried their switches - tactile and linears.
So far best linears I tried were Oil Kings, right after OG MX blacks. This time I tested Silk POM red switches from Keychron.
These are pretty much budget switches that are very affordable, compared to Oil Kings for example, which are 3x more expensive!
Out of the box, they are pre-lubed, both - top and bottom housings are made of POM. Being red switches, traditionally are light - 45g force.
These look really nice, lovely creamy housing and red stem, huge refresh after using all black linears.
I tested them against Oil Kings, mounted on same keyboard.
Right out of the box, they feel the same as other linear switches with similar force. For me its a bit too light, so will swap the springs with some 80g 22mm, but if you are after regular red switches, they are perfect. I dont hear any spring ping, they sound pretty good, a lot more thocky than mx reds. I think POM housing adds to their sound.
I dont do RGB lights, but these have those diffuser inserts, so will nicely spread light.
Factory lubed, they feel a little bit more scratchy than Oil Kings, but same as MX Reds, which I tried in the past. If you prefer to lube all your switches, these would gain more smoothness from re-lubing. I may even keep the original spring and have one keyboard with light reds for light caps like GMK.
Overall, pretty good linears, if you don't want to spend 3 times more on other ones.
