RHINO60A NEW DIRECTION FOR JACKY DESIGN
Modernism × Retro Classic × Brutalism INTRODUCTION
Hey everyone! Meet Rhino60 — A New Direction for JACKY DESIGN.
This project has gone through a long period of refinement.
Most of our previous designs featured soft, rounded edges,
but this time we made a significant change by shifting to a
sharper, more angular case design with stronger geometric lines.
DESIGN LANGUAGE
Rhino60 gets its character from the rhino —
strong, solid, and unmistakable.
We built the case around bold lines, defined edges,
and a substantial profile, keeping decoration to a minimum..
A subtle 0.9° curve is added to the front edge of the keyboard,
softening the sharpness of the angular design.
A brass rhino-engraved weight comes standard on the rear of the case,
echoing the rugged character of the overall design.
For us, this is a completely new design exploration, and we’re curious to see
how everyone responds to this change in style.
A RETURN TO CLASSIC
After extensive comparison and tuning, we found that classic retro keyboard structures,
refined and proven over time, still have a unique character in both typing feel and sound.
It’s this distinctive experience that inspired us to revisit the classic approach and
bring it into Rhino60.
We combined this proven structural foundation with Rhino60’s geometric case
design and mid-frame structure, refining the internal architecture through multiple
rounds of testing and adjustment.
Of course, we also kept the Top Mount structure, which remains a popular choice
among keyboard enthusiasts today. We hope this gives everyone the opportunity to explore
and experience the different typing feel and sound characteristics of both structures.
SPECIAL MID-FRAME LAYER
The mid-frame sits between the PCB and bottom case,
adding visual depth and character to Rhino60.
We made the MID-FRAME part of the design itself,
with horizontal ribs that add another layer of detail when you open up the board.
SPECIAL HHKB-LIKE LAYOUTRhino60 keeps the familiar
60% HHKB-like layout.
We left space between the key area and the outer case silhouette,
creating a distinctive stepped relationship between the two.
