best sounding spacebar?
« on: Wed, 17 November 2010, 15:46:12 »
as i experience more wonderful and wonderfully expensive keyboards, they all seem to share one characteristic to some extent -- the "thunking" spacebar! (although my M13 spacebar seems to do more of a thunky rattle, like "thu-rattle").

So it got me thinking... which mechanical keyboard has the best sounding spacebar? A spacebar that does more than just "thunk" as the rest of the keys "clack", "click", "thock" or "twang"?

The one on the cheapo old Dells (AT101W and such) is somewhat similar to other keys, as compared to how it is on other keyboards. I find the spacebar on the G80 Cherry relatively less annoying than most but still don't love it.

In my case, the problem with the spacebar lies in the increased force to press it, which distorts the way I type on other keys. I can learn to type very lightly on any keyboard but the spacebar is always a problem. Black Cherry switches could be close to ideal if it weren't for the heavier spacebar.

You mean the grunting part as you press the Model F spacebar or the spacebar itself?
