if it's the leather off of a kobe beef cow then i'll gladly pay $70 for it!
It is, actually. Kobe cows are called wagyu in Japanese, and thats what the leather is from. From EK: "The leather
is tanned with a vegetable-based tannin. Once assembled the surface of
the leather is then treated with moisturizing/waterproofing product from
Italy called Noacqua and then finally the edge of the palm rest (at the
seam) is treated with a acrylic-based sealant for durability."
Even if it is genuine leather for 20$, the quality will be bad. It could be a danger to your health even. Naturally tanned is not very likely for that price, since it involves many more steps than usual tanning. Also its not important from which country the leather is, but the general quality, leather gets sorted by quality and only the highgest quality leather is elected for some more complicated tanning processes.
Just saying.
