Am planning on grabbing it if no one else bids but not really willing to pay more because that thing is really dirty.

That's what I think.  I've seen filthy keyboards.  I've bought filthy keyboards.  This doesn't look obviously filthy to me.  Unless some of that yellowing is cigarette residue or something, which I doubt, it looks relatively clean to me.

I was going to bid myself, but the dirtiness factor plus the fact that I won't have internet when the bidding ends doesn't help.

says rackmount so they either just use the wording or they pulled it from a rackmount which likely means limited use, so still nice brown springiness.

I assumed from that wording that it came out of a rack drawer.  The last data center I was in had mostly IBM Space Saver II keyboards in the drawers there.  Depending on the data center, sometimes these get very little use and can be in nearly new condition.  If it came out of a rack though typically it wouldn't be hit by the sun to get yellowed.  Well, unless maybe the rack got disposed of and sat outside for a while.

I wonder if that keyboard is from a smoke-free environment.

good question.  If it came out of a rack I'd say that ups the odds considerably that the environment was smoke free but not a guarantee.  I've seen stuff that has been in a rack for many years has a thin layer of dusty grime on it but not smoke.

I used to work in a company that had a "datacenter" that was more like a data room. Said room was subject to constant smoking. The internals of equipment involved could only be described as "disgusting" :|

That's terrible.  Unfortunately not all racks are what they should be.

Obligatory.

Wow, that pictures at that link are bad.
Including this truly filthy keyboard, which is clearly much worse than the Compaq MX11800 being discussed here.

My keyboards are pretty dirty, but at least all they really got on them is just dust, and in one case, printer ink. No food.

Congrats ShoeFactory. Make sure you don't judge the Cherry bown keyswitches by the legendary yucky trackball on most 11900s.
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.

Congrats ShoeFactory. Remember, if you don't like the Cherry Browns, I'm sure someone would be more than willing to take it off your hands for a fair price. *cough cough wink wink*
