Samsung BX2331 or BX2431?
« on: Tue, 30 November 2010, 23:14:47 »
they are both LED monitors and very nice ones, one is 23in and the other is 24in.  Is there really that much of a noticeable difference to justify the extra $30?

I dont know why this is bothering me so much, i really want 24in, but bigger monitors always seem to harbor bigger problems for me   :(

What do you think?   Would you get the 24in or the 23in?

23, save the money, buy yourself a couple beers. Honestly, you won't notice one inch of difference.

For like 50 dollars more you can get a Dell Ultrasharp IPS panel... You should probably consider returning the samsung :\

Edit: Nevermind, it's like 50 dollars more when it's on sale. Regularly it's 100 dollars more ($319)...

You should still probably consider returning the Samsung. There are better-rated monitors on CNET for the same price.

No point in my opinion to pay more for the U2311H when you can get the U2211H, which is the same 1920x1080 resolution, and also an LG eIPS panel, for less ($249 right now, recently on sale for less, i.e. I paid $209).

Didn't even know there *was* a U2211. Yeah, personally I would go for that but the OP wanted 23" so...

As some readers here know, companies have successfully acclimated people to associating certain resolutions with certain diagonal measurements, resulting in the average consumer paying more for monitors that are the same resolution.  The diagonal measurement always makes it into the main product title, whereas the resolution typically does not.  I'm not surprised that the OP made a diagonal measurement request as a primary criteria, however we don't have enough information to conclude that diagonal measurement was a true fixed criteria for the OP, especially considering there are different 23" monitors that are 1920x1080, 1920x1200, and 2048x1152.

Similarly, it's interesting that all of a sudden 1080p is the new TV (and now even monitor) marketing buzzword, whereas computer monitors have had greater than 1920x1080 resolutions for years...
