Stiff shift + control key on a filco
« on: Thu, 02 December 2010, 22:06:30 »
My left control and shift keys have started acting kindof... stiff. They occasionally don't really click and don't really jump back up like the rest of the keys on the board. Is there something that I might have done (I can guarentee you that I didn't spill anything into it) or anything I can do to return those keys back to how they were?

This is on my filco tenkeyless w/ blue cherries

Well... I greased it and sadly it didn't actually solve my problem. At this point my shift key doesn't actually like to slide up all the way so that it will click... like after pressing it down it only pops up to right before it would reset the click. Needless to say it's pretty annoying when typing... I think I was just imagining the problem with the control key though!

Follow the instructions here on how to remove and lube.

errr... how to remove the grease if you overdid it? well, it might be handy, especially for those who have plated mounted cherry style stabilizers.

Maybe a plastic molding tag came loose and is jamming the switch mechanism?  Just throwing that out there.
Currently GMMK Pro: lubed 68g U4T, FR4 plate, extra gaskets, etc

When I tried it without the stabilizer numbs in it it was till doing it's weird hang-ey thing but without it was pretty obvious that it was hanging on the left side. Apparently it was rubbing against the left wall of the keyboard. Just a lil' visit from a nail file and I haven't had a single trouble since! My filco is saved!
