Topre 91UBY - Dip switch advice
« on: Sat, 04 December 2010, 17:17:37 »
So I've been having difficulty with the dip switches on my 91UBY. They are supposed to enable me to disable the windows key and to swap the Ctrl and Caps Lock keys, but don't change a thing. I've been fumbling for a solution myself and I have ground to a halt so would really like some advice.

   I am running Windows 7
Currently the keyboard shows as an HID keyboard device in Device Manager with (I believe) the appropriate drivers
In Region and Language on the Keyboards and Languages tab I have the default input language as Japanese

If anyone has experience of dip switches on other keyboards I'd really appreciate some ideas no matter how obvious they might seem.

Thanks

You have to have the keyboard unplugged to change the settings. Unplug, change, plug back in.

Works like a charm for me on my HHKB.

Thanks! I thought I'd tried all the simple ideas, restarting etc. but that one I hadn't tried and the problem's solved. It probably says as much in the instructions too, petty I don't read Japanese!

Oh god you scared me when I was reading but then I remembered that you have to unplug the keyboard to apply the changes. I didn't try it yet.

No offense ripster, but what's the point? It's all on the back of the keyboard. Basically, if you have the keyboard, you have the wiki entry.

Maybe for the japanese realforce models, but I don't have one of those, so I can't comment on their DIP settings.

So you think that people that don't read the instructions ON THE KEYBOARD are going to read a wiki? No, they are still going to ask.

Fact: People are dumb.

Actually, that is in the manual. They are Mac only.

Unless you use something like AHK.

I didn't know that about AHK, as I don't use it.

But you have me stumped on the recommended geekhack settings. And I admit, switch 6 is not something I know anything about.

For the record though: 1,3,5 on, 2,4,6 off.

Fair enough. Maybe it's just because we'd be copying what's already on the keyboard. Which seems distinctly pointless, at least to me.
