A new product should be flawless. I keep sending my new hardware purchases back for returns without getting new products back. It's very annoying, especially when there actually are flaws and defects!

I want to get one of them happy hackers, but it's too expensive to get without warranty.

They have Filco :) I'm interested in the price for Leopold. Filco's a bit expensive for a box of cherries.

Wait, what's this about the Leopold pricing? Has it actually been confirmed to be cheaper than that of Filcos?

In Japan, the Archiss is about ¥1000 cheaper than an equivalent Filco.

I expect competetive prices but not significantly cheaper. If the Leopold keyboard can match a Majestouch in terms of build quality etc., a cheaper price would point to the Filco being overpriced wouldn't it? Shhh, perhaps it is :)

Doesn't shine through Das blanks keycaps on my Ducky. I can see the blue light on the back plate but it's not shining through the key.

Thats what i meant...so you can see the glow of the led under the keycap.  Thats good to know.  I dont suppose i could convince you to take a picture with the lights off/low.  Curious how it looks.

That sounded oddly sexual...

I wonder how many lego pictures you have accumulated over your geekhack years...

Also with the keyboards detachable usb cable, could you get a mini usb to ps2 cable (if such a thing exists) and get full nkey or does it need a bluecube for something like that?

Yes, my lord. Right away.

As you can see, from the angle you mostly look at the keyboard (if you look at the keyboard) you can hardly see any light, but from straight up from the keyboard the light is fairly visible.

Nice, thank you.  You can see it good enough to tell if its on or not, so thats good.  I suppose you could also take a very tiny drill bit and drill a small hole through the side or top of the keycap if you wanted better visibility.

I planned on ordering a set of blanks along with the leopold when EK stocks it, but was a bit worried about the led window.  That eases my mind some, i may try the drill idea as well and post it up in the mods section.

Thanks again Iodine!

There is a little difference between Leopold and Ducky 1087 with their LED placement that might affect the visibility. The Leopold has the LED on the lower side of the switch, whereas Ducky has the LED on the upper side.

Maybe a key key would work better:

I used this keyboard nonstop for two days now and the spacebar developed a shine almost similar to my Filco. This was the case with the Black Widow too. I am not even overreacting, two days! Seriously... I must be sweating acid.

She's either getting a nipple or her clit pierced, I don't quite remember.

As a matter of interest, they don't pierce through the clit anymore (just really close to it) as it desensitizes.  Clit piercings can be fun.

looking at elitekeyboards website, and seeing that they offer that Filco-keycap puller for $5 and then looking at my pricelist and seeing that scratchy plastic-toy thinghy costs $5:

Wouldn't it be better to get a bunch of these from elitekeyboards and ship them along with the key caps?

Maybe we should figure out who makes them and get one with our own branding too.

Hooleon makes that type too:

Maybe if we order 50ish, the price decreases and we could possibly still have it geekhack branded?

4000 for a bed? Probably cost 400 dollars to make.

http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/?cp=USNS_KW_0611081618&l=shop,home#l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-364635/pgid-301857

400 dollars for shoes? Must cost only a few bucks to produce.

Pretty much the same could be said with anything. They have to make money somewhere.

And 50 dollars isn't too much to spend to keep a 340 dollar keyboard safe and sound when travelling.

seriously? $50 for that simple of a bag? You guys realize their gross margin on those things must be through the roof. costs $5 to make I bet you anything.

Just pulled the trigger on one myself.

A portion of my wheeled laptop case is perfect for holding keyboards, but they need some protection.  This will do nicely.

Can you find us a similar bag for cheaper somewhere? It's all supply and demand. If there were more bags like this, the price would come down.
