I have a 6gv2.  I use it to play starcraft ands some other FPS.   Nothing wrong with it so far.  I'd recommend it for gaming, not so much typing.

Hello all

i wanna get this keyboard cuz of it simpleness and good looks, i will only play FPS games like cube, COD, Battlefield, CS:S and so on im not into SC and WOW. do you think the 6GV2 will be a good choice (I dont type much).

As for the Gold plated USB cable (Did you know gold is more conductive than metal, The less resistance the current faces the faster the current will get to its destination thus reducing lag) i think its stupid but each to their own!

I hate the layout of the 6gv2.  Small left control.  HORRIBLE.  Huge enter key, which changes the layout of a few keys so you're confused for a while.  Or like me I use standard keyboards at work, then at home I have to relearn it (the period, or comma, and the \ key I think).  And the right shift is also small.

It's painful for me setting control groups in SC2 with left control on 6gv2.  And also using the right shift when capitalizing, say, the letter A.  pain in da ass!

Also do not like it for typing.  You cant really fly on it (120 wpm) because of the stiffer than normal force.  I'd prefer to float/dance across the keyboard quickly than focus on mashing.

The letters fade waaaaaay to quick, I've just had mine for a week now and already the W is starting to fade. Which quite annoys me to be honest, I expected a little more quality regarding the buttons.

Over here in The Netherlands you almost only have two choices, either a 6gv2 or a Black Widow. I heard there were some difficulties with dodging and things like that on a BW, so I chose the 6gv2.
If you want a mech under €80,- and you want a new one, I still think 6gv2 is the way to go over here.
In a short while I will be buying more mechs to see what my real preferences are, and maybe I'll change my mind.

While this is true, I'd say that their reviews tend to be accurate in the sense that they actually do like the keyboards and prefer them over other boards they've tried.  Keep in mind that most fps players (even professionals!) do not think about their keyboard unless it's breaking.  They concentrate much more on their mice and mousepads- so then they get sponsored by steelseries and given a mech keyboard when all they've used before is eclipse and g15s, so at worst they still are ok with the keyboard.

The dude who came by here who plays tf2 pro level with topre even said that he doesnt bother taking his topre to lans (and his team was in lan finals, not just random lans), just grabs whatever keyboard.  Just something to keep in mind about fps endorsements, sc2 is much different with people being much more specific with what keyboards they play with, even with the old school dt35's

Everyone on EG is using a steelseries, not exactly too inspiring when it's in your contract :P

I am an avid sc2 player and I have a Realforce 103ub 55g uniform and a filco tenkeyless w/ mx blue's.  I love both of these keyboards for typing but not so much for sc2.  Ofcourse they work decently but I am planning to purchase mx blacks, maybe filco's. What i learned is that you have to try out the keyboard for yourself to see what you like.

I'm looking for a good quality mx black board (price doesnt matter) tenkeyless or not any other than Filco boards out there?

SS 6gv2 is a decent board with mx blacks. Lot of pro players use the SS and the price is awesome.

some people seem to be complaining about the key's wearing out. How do the keys feel on the SS 6gv2? Thin, thick? I'm typing on a Filco mx blue and they keys feel really thin, although i like the tactile clickyness, I'm looking for more of a heavier,thick and bouncier switch which matches a mx black switch. Only reason Im not instantly purchasing a Filco blacks are the keys feel so thin... I did purchase some doubleshots round 3 hope those feel a little better

The thickness is same as the das/filco/rosewill. They are kinda filmsy, however they feel great and the sound of it is a lot better then the sound of the filco keycaps.

If you could wait, Filco Majestouch 2 should be on its way here soon, but if not, Elitekeyboards has the Leopolds, shipping starts Mar 31st.

If I were to buy another board just for Starcraft I'd probably go for Cherry Reds, they just feel perfect for starcraft.

haha thanks rigs, I feel like I'm talking to a Steel Series sales man.

I was thinking about reds but it came down to the actuation force for me. I think the reds are too light in my opinion. I tried the Noppoo Choc mini w/ browns and ended up selling it to noodles in the classifieds. EK doesn't have leopolds w/ blacks. I just know blacks will be perfect for me in sc2. I wonder if I'm going to be suckered into buying a SS 6gv2...

99.99, free 2-day shipping at amazon seems a decent deal.
And red is a little bit soft. Fine for typing, but not for gaming

There's no way you won't love your topre ( if you havn't already tried one that is). I honestly thing topre is #1 feel.
