Well, after about a month or two now, I've been reading through this forum and originally the OCN thing a couple months ago. But this seemed to be where the keyboard lovers really congregate. Note: read the title as light, joking, slightly sarcastic.
I just was realizing how much I missed a keyboard that felt solid and typed solid. I grew up with IBMs and many Model Ms. Now after using a Saitek Esclipe II for 3 or 4 years (side note: what are those key caps created from? I never had any issues with wear!) and having now money to spend, I bought a Das Keyboard S Pro Silent. I liked it better but still was wondering what the other Cherry switches were like. The browns just seemed to light for this ham-handed guy.
So, I ordered with the Taiwanese PC Home deal, just because I like a challenge and wanted to try a Cherry KB itself for a while. So I bought a White (Grey, but it's white to me, dammit!) colored G80-3000 with MX Blacks. Also, added in a Scorpius M10 for the office. So, I liked the heavier feel of the Blacks, but loved the tactile feel of the Blues.
Well, I'm keeping my M10. It's great for typing up all the notes I have to do at work. The Cherry, while novel, has very solid key caps yet the board feel so flimsy itself. So that's on ebay. So is the Das. I decided I want a backlit keyboard again, and something between the MX blues and blacks. Heavier feel with tactile push. I ordered the Deck Legend Frost with MX clears.
This should cull my obsession...for now. But I had a bit of fun playing with each switch, even at some cost to myself!
