That's not too bad I guess....It'd be great if you could take a picture of all the keycaps once SP ships them. :D

Hopefully if you post one a day, the Keycap Gods will speed up the process and they will be done. Works like a rain dance

Hardforum is complaining about our group buys.

This one does seem unnecessarily complicated.  I'd recommend a simpler one next time.

Honestly I'm fine with the complexity considering how amazing this group buy has been with regards to custom keys and specialty orders.  This is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen organized on a forum, and the scale is ridiculous.

I kinda agree, this is preferable to having all these specials in different orders, just think the mess that it would make, no-one would be able to find anything at all ;D
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

Honestly, I'm a scrub here and I was able to figure out how the group buy worked. Maybe people should read the first few pages, ask a question or two (its a forum for conversation after all) and someone will respond with an answer. I think this group buy worked well (its my first) and would like to see something with options like this in the future so I can get more than just the standard kit, just hopefully not too often. Maybe once we find out how long the start to finish is, maybe plan to have them ship out beginning of december? Another suggestion for the future is to have better descriptions of what each option is. I know there were a lot of them, but most of the questions seem to be "Does key-x go with set-a and fit on board-z?" Obviously, once this set comes in, we'll be able to get a lot of pictures online for future reference.

This group buy was not complex, imo, it was just extensive and comprehensive. Those who complain most likely didn't bother reading the first few pages. 7bit and iMav have done an absolutely fantastic job organising this.

I think that the fact that everything was planned out allowed for a lot of different design and will make the whole process much more rewarding when we actually get the keycaps.

I personnally wish I would've ordered more stuff, I don't feel to bad tought  because I'm already eager to wait for the next group buy. It may sound silly but I love having some thing to look forward to. It might be insignificant to some but checking out this thread between invoicing, ordering or whatever the hell I'm doing in my day job makes me a happpier man.

This group buy is not my sole reason to live but it's one of the many things that make me a happier man.

I wanted to write this down so that the individuals responsible for this project know that their efforts are appreciated and that they do make a difference.

My comment was directed to ripsters post about the people at hardforum complaining about our group buys taking too long or being to complex,  people like that have no patience like I said they want everything and they want it RIGHT now, they wouldnt do well with a group buy like this as nothing can be RMA'd as most people like that will RMA something for ridiculous reasons or return the item all togethor because they didn't like the feel of it.  That is part of the reason why alot of electronics are even more expensive then they should be, because Joe-bob in BFE found a half millimeter scratch on the bottom underside of the feet of his monitor.

I have no problem with waiting for custom stuff like this as its unique, im not gonna run into a friend who has SP custom made keycaps thats for sure, Im sure they are happy typing on their overpriced G-19 that needs its own power supply to work though (Dont get me wrong Logitech makes solid products but at the end of the day they are just fancy overpriced rubber domes).  Sorry just rambling.

I recommended this already, I think Zaerst may be putting one togethor soon with about 26 orders open for the color scheme he came up with (really nice looking if I do say, I will try and get him to post a pic) Im gonna try and get him to add the colored mod keys IE :  Blue Alt, green shift, red control.  Other then that I think thats gonna be it, kind of like Whiterices first Group buy and he already has the pricing from SP so we just would need to get the other 25 or so orders set.

I don't think this process was complicated at all, and keep in mind there really is no room for complaints. 7bit and iMav did everything they could to make everyone happy, that's what is taking so long. A little patience goes a long way with this - it's a large order and will take a while. We can work on simplifying the group buy for the next rounds but for now I think we should just thank 7bit and iMav for all the hard work they've put in now and will continue to put in in the future.

I sold 13 Noppoo's and had a bit of a hard time keeping everything organized and everyone happy. I can't IMAGINE what 7bit and iMav are going through.

Thanks guys!

it's not that the process was complicated, but understanding everything took some time.  the giant first post didn't really clarify how things should work, i think a concise FAQ would have gone a long way to cut down on all the questions about placing orders, updating orders, invoices, what does XXX kit include, why are the prices changing, etc.

Either way, i'm pretty excited to see these

Yeah, some aspects can be hazy for non-locals.

The "example" order given was not immediatly clear to me :
Quote from:
If you want all 485 of single, row-1 keys in BEIGE (GAL) and made from ABS, then you have to send a message to 7bit_vote containing the line:
211524 485

Maybe a showing a more common order example would easier to understand, something along:

Standard kit 1
Cherry POS 1
Commodore C= key 2
TOOL 1

Gray zones were also experimented in my understanding of what "voting" involved, was I purchasing them or just hoping for them?

I now understand the process (I think) but at first It did appear a bit cryptic.

Nevertheless, this is an amazing group buy, thanks to those who maked it happen.

Im pretty new to geekhack, and i have been reading about the group buy round three a bit for fun. It seems a bit complicated, so ill think ill wait and follow the next round if there is one so i can be there from the start :) One thing that worries me though, is that i really love the look of the layout in this round, and im guessing you will change it for a round four :/ I also tried to make a puzzle of the leftovers to order in page 1, to see if i could scramble together most of the keys for a nordic tenkeyless, and i think its possible to get 75 or 80 % of the needed keys somehow (if i mix and match nordic set, gamer set orange, colemak and some other keys available :)) Or maybe someone have a standard set for sale in the near future ;) Love that centered and large font.

So are you saying all the people PMing me asking for help making orders are stupid then?  Seems judgemental.

7Bit/iMav owes me $18.25.  I'm waiting for the forum upgrade whining to stop and he's in a better mood before asking for the money back.

They're not stupid, no. Some people are more comfortable with this format than others. I personally was able to figure it out for myself just by spending some time familiarising myself with the first few pages. If some people didn't bother to do that they were most likely time-poor and thus outsourced their problems to you. Stupity /= ignorance /= lack of effort... etc.

Also, if you're so worried about less than 20 bucks I'm guessing the stock market hasn't exactly been treating you well lately. ;-)

Are there any pics of the Orange gaming set?

Please tell me it's not that one from the first group buy thread with the massive letters.

It probably is because it is meant to work in conjunction with the STANDARD kit

You could always just get the orange blank set and then replace whatever keys YOU use for gaming. I plan to get some blank sets if I don't like the font. That's why I just ordered the standard kit and a few extra keys. I want to see if I like them, then get into the fun stuff in future group buys.
