Can't Decide, Need Help!

Hello, I have had my first gen G15 for years and years. I decided that it is time for me to upgrade my keys, and that I do want to go mechanical. I have been reading up on the keyboards and have narrowed my search down to three:

The Black Widow Ultimate
DAS Model S Ultimate Keyboard w/ Blank Keys
Steel Series 7G

I have never really used a mechanical keyboard before. I do a considerable amount of typing at simi-fast speeds. I also play a lot of FPS and more recently have delved rather deep into some starcraft.

Each keyboard has my own little pros and cons. For instance I like the PS2 and handrest on the G7, but I really do not enjoy that the backspace key is not double wide. The DAS looks badass and I feel like never being able to look at they keyboard would increase my WPM, but I dont know how easy that transition will be (I dont know every key). And the Black Widow...I guess I'm just used to my G15 blue lights and macro keys.

Whatever input you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you =]

I would also say the Black Widow is a solid option, though I've no experience with the Ultimate, I can say the regular is quite the value and rather well built.

Just got a Deck Legend for Christmas.  You might like this keyboard.  It's got the linear black Cherry switches.  Doesn't type as fast as my Dell AT-101W, but it's way quieter and great for gaming.  I tested the rollover with every combo I could think of and it's always 6 key (I have the USB version).  You don't have to bottom out the keys when typing which is nice.  The keys have a lot of resistance though.  The space bar is the stiffest I've ever felt on a keyboard.  Getting used to it quickly though.

I think those have the MX1A-2 (dark grey) switch for the spacebar.  At 80g activation force they and the Model F AT are pretty close.  Stiffer than John Holmes on a Saturday Night.

Geez, that is high.  The keyboard feels like a tank.  I had a Cherry with the blacks before, but this feels much different.  Little if no rattle when you tap a key and it's got a nice little ping sound when you bottom out.  It really is quiet though when you don't bottom out.  That is the secret with this keyboard I think, for consistent typing at least. The resistance to the actuation point doesn't feel too bad, but when you go further down it definitely gets harder to press.

I've played some Starcraft 2 lately on a black Cherry (from the sig) and it had some drawbacks. Actually, typing on it felt much better than playing SC2. I felt I constantly needed to mind my keyboard. Tactile feedback gives you some kind of subjective security, I guess (one I can do without when typing and even appreciate not wasting time on the distinct actuation, but curiously not when gaming). Barring this factor, the blacks would probably be better or even much better.

Oh, and I would really suggest playing around with an old IBM Model M (or even the Dell AT101W that someone mentioned) if you can find one somewhere for a couple of bucks like people do. It's far from NKRO for all I know but it can be great for RTS gaming.
