Model M Spacesaver still not working...=(
« on: Sun, 02 January 2011, 21:22:06 »
Hi again fellow geekhackers,

I had another thread last month about my Model M Spacesaver keyboard not working at all. Last month I tried several SDL cables and they did not work.  This month, I finally got back to my old full-sized model M and replaced the controller of the SSK with the full-sized keyboard.  The ribbon cables were exactly the same size, but the Spacesaver still doesn't work when I tested it. However, when I tested the SSK controller on the full-sized Model M, it was fully functional to my surprise.  Now, I'm definitely sure it does not have to do with the controller boards nor the SDL cables.  Anyone here know what the problem(s) might be? Also, how do I go about disassembling the rest of the keyboard to get to the root of the problem?

Woah, the whole keyboard matrix is shot?  That's pretty funk-tastic!

What happens if you take a continuity tester and have someone hold it on some random rows and columns at the ends of the ribbon cables and mash on all the keys?
