This.  The switch type is not in the in the model number.  There is, typically, one switch type per model number, but it doesn't always have to be the case.  In other words, you can't just look at the model number and know what switch is in a Cherry 'board.

Well, that still leaves me with some hope that it might be a Blue MX board! Even though the older ones are usually Black. We'll see.

The thing is that they're still in original packaging. The seller didn't even attest that they work at all, because they've been stored for so long. I don't think she's going to unbox one and pop a key off. Since I already bought one, I'm just going to wait and see.

What I don't understand is that they say they are yellowed. How can they yellow in th box? These are not crappy apple keyboards.

Usually they are. Cherry Germany sticked very close to the original product codes. I have two HPDs and they are both MX Black.

Just got a response from  the seller. He says that they are dirty and yellowed.

NIB? nope!

Maybe they are really unsed, or barely used, but not new in box. They would not get dirty and yellowd if they would have been in a box for 15 to 20 years!

@Ascaii: if you have a decent one (not yellowed and not much shiny), I would be interested.

I just received my keyboard today, and it's definitely NIB. The PCB is perfectly clean, the keyboard had a line of dust on the top end of the case and a few smudges on the back, probably not perfectly stored. The coiled cable looks like new too. It's from the old "made in Germany" line but it uses clamps and not screws. It's MX Black and the keys are doubleshot. It also has the standard 2KRO. The F and J keys are extra curved.

The keys are a mixture of white and a rather dark gray. Enter, Backspace, Shift, Tab, Caps etc. have picture and no text. The "S-Abf" on the front side of the Druck key is dark green. Weird.

Perfectly normal. Actually that is all the standard for any G80-3000. They never existed with screws. Only 1000 series uses screws.

"Made in Germany" also is not related to the age of the board, they have been making boards parallel in Germany and Czech for a while.

"S-Abf" is also green on all Cherry double shots, besides the black boards where its light blue.

But 'Made in WEST-Germany' IS somewhat related to the age ...

Yeah, but godly_music said Germany not West-Germany! :redface:

PS: Cherry still used the "Made in West-Germany" cardboard boxes until they ran out of them, even after the wall had fallen. I have a board made in 1993 that still came in one of the old west-Germany boxes.

Yes, it only says made in Germany. It also says on the box "Date of Prod: J50 00".

She had 5, I bought one. 2 are still up for grabs.
