At least the second dude's ping is decent.

Is this DSLReports Forum?

It better be decent, with the amount of money that college costs, they should at least provide decent internets.

What happened to the epic lego pic?

Self edited.  It's kinda off topic to talk about peoples SpeedTest.Net results in a keyboard thread.

totally agree w/ ripster

i honestly thought it was some sort of announcement from ek about archiss when i bumped into it

and there's no point on bragging about something that it's just sub-par

If we are showing our proverbial "cocks" mine downloads at 184 Mb/s... But really though, it would be nice to purchase from a US vendor - I am just surprised at the lack of information on EK's website.

I still miss the lego picture.

I pulled the trigger on the Archiss Tenkeyless Cherry MX Blues for $96 from rakuten.  Would I derail the topic [even further] if I asked about shipping experiences from rakuten? I am surprised that there was no international shipping fee, or is that tacked on later?

I've never ordered through them.  But with the brokers I have used, they usually tack on shipping after they receive the item.

Okay, I just received an email that my order was cancelled because ShopU does not ship outside of Japan. I ordered through the english rakuten site, too.

Did I do something wrong? And how much extra is the shipping fee?

It's okay, I understand that not everybody can appreciate certain artwork. Perhaps it was my fault, in that I flaunted my artistic talent. In any case, the criticism of my art is most welcome, thank you.

I wish I had (though I don't know how to do that either).  I spent all morning figuring out how to order through rakuten and set up a Japanese address.

Experience with rakuten thus far:
1. First order cancelled because I didn't know the shop didn't ship overseas.
2. Second order cancelled (?) because my bank thought there was fraudulent activity going on (I made some big purchases consecutively, ala college textbooks lol).
3. Third order pending... Do I get a tracking number later?

I'm a little worried I might have ordered two keyboards because I never received an email that the second order was cancelled. I called my bank to inform them all these purchases were legit and they said they cancelled payment for the keyboard so I would have to order it again.
:boom:

EDIT: Order just got cancelled for what I think is an OOS problem. There was only one left when I ordered. FML.

EDIT #2: Received another email saying my order has been sent today. I'm assuming this is to the middleman address before it's shipped overseas. Google Translate isn't very good...

Stilllllll  waitttiiiiiinnnnnnnggggggggg on EK for the Leopolds.  Frustration is growing by the day.   Ney, by the hour.  My model M crashed and burned, and now I want something other than this Dell thing that sticks.  Hope EK didn't tease me about the January/February dates.  I would be depressed.

I don't mean this in a harsh or pointed way but I've personally done this dance before far too many times in the past with various products and my gut is telling me that if I really want to get a Mechanical keyboard and I'm ready to buy now I may as well buy something now and finish it vs. waiting on these.

EK typically gets what they say they will.  They have a habit of under-promising and over-delivering.  That said, there are other outlets to buy from, so if you have the itch and someone has your product in stock, jump on it.

Sure. :)

For me what I'm still kind of debating is going tenkeyless or not. I'm all but certain I'm going MX blue.

Right now my almost finished MS Ergo takes up about 18.5 inches on width.

If I snapped a photo of what my setup looks like I think just about everyone would agree I probably need more space.

There are a few non tenkeys like the Rosewill that go down to 17.5 inches and that inch would even be nice. Heck, even the Das is .5 inches less in width.

The tenkeys would be awesome down to about 14 in width. I've thought about it and I really don't think I'd ever miss the number pad portion at all. I rarely if ever use it.

So there we are. If I want tenkeyless it shrinks the list down considerably and especially if I want tenkeyless blue. Tenkeyless blue is a pretty small list.

That means either wait or import unless I'm missing something. So there I am.

Feels like some of the information is conflicting.

I don't want to make my own thread for just this quick blurb but if anyone wants to look at the attached photo of my current setup I think you can see where I'm all but convinced that I "need" to go tenkeyless. Maybe not.  I don't want to derail this thread, either, so apologies in advance if that's the case.

I just received confirmation for two Archiss/Leopolds. Shipping is ~$65 for each... Is there no way to cancel at this point? The items are in warehouse waiting for payment before shipping to the States.

EDIT: I can have them packaged together for [strike]$93.61[/strike] instead. Still, that's literally like buying another keyboard. I'm so newbie.

EDIT 2: I calculated the consolidated shipping wrong. It's actually 8880 yen, or ~$108.41.

lol sorry for hijacking your thread, cobra. i had to go through the early posts to remember what this was really about. anyway, it should be noted that the "$108 shipped" price an earlier poster quoted getting a filco/leopold/archiss for was purchased inland Japan. he informed me that he had a friend in japan at the time who was returning to USA so that's why he wasn't stuck with a $165 price after shipping/add.fees.

I have my fingers crossed that this keyboard will be well worth it and last me an eternity--or until i cave and want more keyboards O_O

I wish I had ordered a blue and a brown instead of two blues. At least I'd know which one I would prefer (first time mecher here) and sell the other one. But the deed's been done and now I must wait for my two Cherry MX Blue Archisses to arrive. That'd be real funny if I just kept both O_O

Here is a little tid-bit that is actually on topic. While EK doesn't have the Leopolds yet, some of their information has been updated to show it. See this passage from their FAQ.

http://www.elitekeyboards.com/support.php?lang=en#1a

It talks about which switches you might want with your Leopold keyboard.

Oh and I love that bit with the clips. Totally going to start doing that for cables I have to plug and unplug fairly often.
Currently own:
Das S Ultimate with Browns
Cherry G84-4100 with ML Linear switches
Memorex Telex with NMB Space Invaders
Leopold with Blues

Will the Leopolds be sold in full 104 key configuration? I sometimes do data entry for experiments, and if they don't I'll probably buy a rosewill instead and call it a day.
