Help to choose oldschoolboard for gaming!
« on: Wed, 12 January 2011, 15:34:01 »
Hi!

First of all, wanna say HI! to this superb forum!

Then, wanna start thanking anybody who helps me with this choose!

And sorry for my bad english, im from Sweden so dont be to hard :)

To the real question (this might end up in a wall of text)

I feelt the Steelseries 6G v2 and 7G and i just love them, now I got a Ultra X Flat thats just ran out of function.

I got "stocked" thinking about the mechanical boards as I liked the 7G and have been googeling, searching in here and so on for 2 days and cant really get hold of every information ill need. I also like have thing thats not possible for anyone to buy, and aint afraid for some homework, just think its funny.

I want a board just like the Filco Majestouch/Steelseries 7G look, and it cannot be to "high" above the F-bars as it wont fit under my screen ;) It doesent have to be like 6G but neither have 2 rows of keys above.

I dont care about how it looks, but black is a big plus. I would be fun to be able to change the WASD and ESCkeys to differnt color and, but its not an must. I do perfer Cheery-switches, which color dosent matter. But you might got other suggestions better?

Then the most important, it must be able to take W+SHIFT+CAPSLOCK at the same time, and full NKEYROLLOVER is nice.

Best price as possible?

I can get an 6g v2 for about 100USD, im looking for something around 60-70USD.

All tips are very welcome!

If you're interested, the Steelseries 6GV2 is on sale for $69.30 at NCIX US. I'm not sure how much the shipping price will be for you since i live in Canada and i did an instore pickup from one of their stores that is nearby. It is the last day of the sale though today so if you're interested, feel free checking it out.

I doubt that you'll be able to get a keyboard with Cherry MX switches for 60-70USD in Sweden, unless you get lucky on some auction site. I did a quick search for cherry g80-3000 and it seems like keybo.de sells them for 63 euro excluding shipping, and cherrykeyboardsrus.co.uk sells them for 60 pounds excluding shipping. I'm no guru; there might be cheaper ones out there. Generally, computer related stuff costs 50-100% more in Europe than in the US.

Im thinking of something used, like the oldschooler boards who are frequently discussed in here would work, but i might have wrong?

How aboute W+SHIFT+CAPSLOCK at the "new" G80-3000?

Anyone knows whats about this specifik command at the older
Cherry G80-1000HFD Cherry Blue and the G80-3000?

Thats why im here, i want to cut the price and get something special and maybe customize it into my own :)

I think you mean "stoked".  Stocked is what you do when you load up on inventory.
Keyboards: Deck Legend ToXiC, Dell AT-101W
Mice:
Mionix Naos 3200, Logitech MX620, Razer Diamondback 3G

Sidewinder X4 is the only NKRO keyboard in that price range in Sweden.

I just tested Capslock-LSHIFT-W and it does indeed block on my DealExtreme HHKB killer scissorswitch.

I think Steelseries 6GV2 and raising your price level is your best bet.

Have had one, but it was broken when dilivered. But ill tested it a little and feelt i was never gonna get used to how the keys was placed, and even if ill did then its gonna be a big problem everytime im at work or at a friend.

The "only" way out atm is the 6G v.2, but its also the last ;)
