Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent wrist rest for use with a keyboard that does not have a numpad? Something reasonably comfortable but mostly that looks pretty nice - anything bit these horrid purple gel things they give us at work.

Filco medium wrist rest and Ducky 80% wrist rest are both a good option, if you're looking for a solid and quite hard wrist rest. Both of these wrist rests are maybe an inch wider than a tenkeyless keyboard.

Which one is harder? The Filco or the Ducky?

Ducky is a bit harder than the Filco. But they're both quite hard.

I think I might just buy some leather, foam and rubber from a fabric store or something and sew one myself.

That Ducky one looks like a big piece of soft rubber, but if you're saying the FILCO is soft(er) in comparison, then I'm going to buy another FILCO just for backups. I really like this wrist rest.

I have both of them and really prefer the Filco over Ducky.

If you're looking for something a bit cheaper, and perhaps more cushiony, this Fellowes notebook wrist rest is perfect for a tenkeyless board. I use one with my Filco, and it's the perfect height and a very comfortable gel material covered in fabric. I think I got mine for $12 or so at Office Depot. Exact same width as the main cluster of the Filco.

Are you sure you want a small one? With my tenkeyless I can keep my mouse closer and my wrist pad is long enough to be used with both.

A piece of wood with felt or leather glued onto it works well. I generally think a hard wrist wrest is superior to a soft one.

Of course, you really shouldn't be using a wrist wrest at all.

I use a DIY wrist rest made by folding a towel, with the board placed on the non-folded end, dampening sound. Looks decent if done right.

It's weird that when I had my G15, I almost had to have the wrist rest or I couldn't even tolerate using the board. Now with my Filco, I don't even realize it. Is it really better for you or something?

There is some debate about the subject. I hover my hands over the keyboard, and I can do that all day without tiring. Apparently that's not common. Do what you think feels best.

I use a folded sock as padding under my left palm for gaming. Cheap and it works very well.

I get a stack of used paper, cut in into desired length & width and use tapes to put it together. It is cheap, working and moddable.
