Stepped control key, IBM
« on: Wed, 19 January 2011, 19:01:45 »
I'm looking for a stepped control key, to go in place of the caps lock key on a Model M.

Actually, I'm looking for 2, total.

Thanks wanabe. I'll look in to Unicomp. I was going to contact them about a single size \| key, anyway, since I've tried getting that here in the past, to no avail.

Could probably just order all of the keys I need from them, actually. But, I like geekhackers better.

I have the desired keys, except I'm currently using them on my Model F AT...

I guess I'll just call unicomp then. I need a single size \| key and a 1.5x backspace key anyway. Too bad they will both be single piece, but take what you can get, right?

Is that where you got yours, HaaTa? Or did they come from other terminal boards -- which is where I got the first set I used.

No, the keys you want come with Model F ATs...

Well, except the backspace.

The stepped Alt key from a Model F AT board fits nicely on an M, but the stepped Ctrl key is too big.  Being AT's have only one Alt key, you'd need two AT board to replace the both the keycaps on an M.

Edit: oops, should have read the OP better, and the pictures in the previous post didn't show up when I first read it.  Yep, if you're replacing the Caps Lock key with a stepped Ctrl from an AT, it should be fine.

Yeah, definitely cheaper to get them from Unicomp. As I otherwise have no use for those F keyboards.

Thanks all!

I got stepped Ctrl from unicomp. I think it was $2 per key plus shipping so I got 5 :P

Cheers
