Need adapter recommendations for Cherry g80-1000 keyboard
« on: Sat, 22 January 2011, 13:13:41 »
I need some suggestions for good adapters for a G80-1000 which has an AT output :/

Any ideas ???

I'm looking for 2 adapters to be specific. One for AT to PS2, and another from PS2 to USB.

For AT to PS2 i found DIN5F/MDIN6M
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=230550235970&si=zYHjUQhQCDdAgmwGcguFjMvq%252BNk%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

For PS2 to USB i found NEWLink USB PS/2 Keyboard Adapter (N01210)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/NEWLink-USB-Keyboard-Adapter-N01210/dp/B001GXR72E

Are these 2 adapters fine or does anyone have any better suggestion ?

I use this one for my PS/2 -> USB needs: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-USB-PS-2-Adapter/dp/B0006BA2SI/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1295725083&sr=1-2

It doesn't have the downsides that the blue cube does (blocking other ports, weighing down the port, ridiculous looking), and is only slightly more expensive. Plus, there are a lot of Cherry G80 boards that have both mouse and keyboard cables, so rather than 2 blue cubes, you can use a single belkin.

Generally, yes. Not sure how robust the very cheapest ones are though.

BTW, I wouldn't combine a 1-part adapter like the Monoprice one with something like the Blue Cube, unless you've got a USB extension. At least one of them should contain some length of cable, as this quite literally makes things more flexible.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

I'm not sure if monoprice ships internationally, but something like this should work.

Oh i can see what thefrenc means about the box getting in the way of other ports on the pc.

But the blue cube has already been confirmed working for g80-1000 hm....

Does the Belkin have problems or should i go for blue cube ?

I'll go with the one with no quirks when using as either

1. at to ps2

2. at to ps2 to usb
