Mech. Keyboard with Swe/Finnish layout
« on: Sun, 30 January 2011, 14:25:40 »
So, the das keyboard looks like it has what I want. Clicky and tactile switches, high quality, price isn't too bad.

These are the things I need it to be:
* Tactile
* Swe/Fin layout, blank keyboard works good just as long as I have all the keys required for me to use a Swe/Fin layout.
* Clicky, well, how does the sound of Cherry MX Blue switches compare to the switches found in an Acer 6312 keyboard? I can stand clicking, but if it is anything as loud as an Model M the people around me will probably complain. I am considering browns but I am not sure how much I will miss the clicky sound.
* Can be bought from inside EU.

Price: I am not willing to go much above the Das Keyboard unless for a good reason.

Also, on das keyboard's site they say free ground shipping, does that mean free shipping to Sweden or Finland?

Is there any chart on how many db different switches produces when activated?

Thanks!

Audio clips here:

Also, are you looking specifically for a new board, or would you consider used boards? I've got a bunch of vintage mx blue boards I'm selling and i'm told the germany layout is very close to the swedish layout.

Thanks! Also, yes the layout is indeed very similar. What specific keyboards are you selling? :)

Listening to those audio clips is a good start. Personally I think the click in Cherry MX Blues isn't all that noisy, but it's the "clack" from the metal plate that makes most of the noise.

Keyboard Company
has a good selection of SWE/FI layout Filcos, that you might want to check out. There are already some full size models available, and they will also be stocking the Tenkeyless models in SWE/FI layouts sometime next month.

If you live in Finland, you could also check the Topres in Verkkokauppa.com (will only deliver to Finland or Estonia).

That tenkeyless Filco looks interesting, comes with both browns and blues. I actually prefer tenkeyless versions because of the less space being occupied.

How is the keyboardco's shipping?

Not too bad.
Comparing the das keyboard with the filco one, what are the advantages/disadvantages. The das does after all cost a lot less.

But the Filco being tenkeyless and all does give it the edge. Their ETA isn't that far away after all, I guess I could wait and see.

bugfix listed the prices. They shipped my order extremely fast. The package was shipped the next day from my order, and it arrived in Finland only 4 days after my order. I was very pleased with them.

I can confirm that they ship very fast. Same day shipping cut off times can be found on their website. They're also very nice when you contact them with a question via email.
