Silly question from a newb (about a Cherry keyboard)
« on: Sun, 30 January 2011, 16:27:14 »
Hello,

Is there such a thing as a membrane Cherry G80-3000? I've found one dirt cheap (new) at a reseller but the listed information is a bit limited and it says it's a membrane keyboard. Could it be?

Reference: TG803000
Type: Standard
Key number: 105
Technology: Cherry MX keys based on Gold Crosspoint technology, MCBF 80000 hours
Key mechanism: Membrane (???)
Key travel: 4 - 0.4mm
Interface: AT connector
Dimensions: 470 x 195 x 44 mm
Weight: 1.40 kg

If it says Gold Crosspoint technology, does that not mean it's switches? Not 100% sure though.

Going by the Reference number... are you talking about the portuguese(?) reseller? All of their products are long outdated.. they have some g80-5000s up there for 15 Euros. Those sell for 500 Euros NIB on eBay. I mailed them a while ago and either never got a reply or found out that they are entirely out of stock since ages (literally).

There is no such thing as a Membrane G80, it might be a bad copy and paste on their part. G80-3000 = MX switches

Yes, that's the one. They never replied to my e-mail too. Oh well, I guess it was too good to be true :(

Holy c**p! I've just found a store that actually has G80-3000 in stock! :O
Not in the mainland though, shipping could prove expensive. Screw it, I'm all over it :D

Now if only they could provide the exact and complete model number...
