New Filco in the house!

Tenkeyless with blue switches and my own set for making it otaku/colored WASD and red escape keytop - courtesy of Keyboardco who have been very helpful!

Came here to offer my first impressions:
-Slightly louder then anticipated because i have a tendency to bottom out the keys, something it will have to improve upon.
-Very awsome buildquality, heavy, solid etc etc.
-Feels fantastic and fun to type on.

Will update once i fire up SC2 and take it for a spin:)

edit: Would recommend anyone who is not an accountant or just reliant on a numpad to go with a tenkeyless, fits perfectly next to my mousepad without too much space between my hands.

I got my first mech today aswell from majestouch on this forum, its a 104 filco with blues.  I find myself trying to find more reasons to type, typing on this thing is giving me a boner.  Glad I found this amazing little community

And here is the update after a long weekend with my new Filco:

-I don't think anyone needs black switches to avoid accidental keypresses like i read on various forums, coming from an apple wireless keyboard i find it impossible to press keys by misstake. The traveldistance is longer and the resistance seems higher on the blue switches compared to apple wireless and their scissor switches.

To elaborate, the blue switch filco is 50g(?) and thats probably the most resistance ive had in my keyboards, which have historically been rubber/scissor switches. If you need black switches to avoid accidental keypresses, i'm sad to say you lack the fine motor skills to play computer games to begin with;)

-With regards to sound most of it comes from bottoming out (at least thats what im experiencing so far), so the added high pitch click from blue switches just sounds delicious.

Also, i think anyone with the same reference point as me (apple wireless keyboard) could get a Topre with variable weighting and use that without any problems.

That being said im loving the keyboard alot, in SC2 i like the tactile feedback/tactile click - it gets you into a kind of rythm with the hotkeys/controlgroups that i think is good for my play in the long run. Also i find doubleclicking etc easier since i can hear/feel the exact actuation point.

I have only tried one mechanical now, its a huge step up and i don't regret getting one at all. Hope to get to try a brown switch/topre some day so i can know the difference for sure^^

Even though the Apple Aluminum probably measures around 60g of activation force the key travel is much less.

If you get a chance collect some nickels and measure it.  12 or so should do it.

From Norway so no nickles, but it seems you are right on all accounts.

Tested my keys on the Filco with "Ei krone" which according to wikipedia weights about 4,35g, took about 12 to actuate my filco and 15 to actuate the apple wireless.

But like you explained and i experienced, the keys don't feel as light as they look on paper^^

I will never buy a full-size keyboard again. There is just no reason. If I need to enter a lot of data, I will just use a USB tenkey.

Typing is much more comfortable on a tenkeyless. I love the size. Perfect! I got a Filco tenkeyless blue too and I love it. Pretty loud, but my wife isn't distracted by the sound at all thankfully.

Yeah i have been using an apple wireless for a couple of years now and i never really missed the numbpad. Tenkeyless is the future, especially if you play on the same board.

Personally i find the clicks from the blues soothing^^

I just got my Filco Majestouch FKBN105MC - blue switches. It's an absolute dream playing SC2 on this baby. I feel more in control, and able to respond quicker with these switches for sure, increasing overall APM.

Ok, so i changed my keycaps as soon as i got the keyboard and stumbled accross a thread here which explained the thing i did.

I feel like mye backspace might be acting up abit, it was the first "big" key i changed so i might not have paid enough attention to the positioning of the white plastic hinges between the keycap itself and the metal "bar".

Does anyone know what way these should be mounted on a ISO-backspace (if there is any difference between the standards)? Help appriciated, need to put my paranoia/OCD to rest^^

(also, if there is anything else i should be "aware" of before/after changing keycaps please share)

Alright, bumping an old topic about my Cherry MX blue with a new board that just walked in the door. I just got the exact same board but with browns this time.

Filco tenkeyless with browns:
Damn there is a big difference between the two. The brown feels alot more reactive and smooth, the tactile feel is not so "pronounced" and the keys feel alot lighter. Like my hands are flying along the keyboard alot easier.

I don't know if its just me pressing the keys in a more appropriate way, but the keys seem to make alot less noise - not just the lack of the tactile "click" but it seems like the keycaps make less noise when bottoming out.

Actually the difference is so big i'm beginning to wonder if my cherry mx blue is defect in some way:
-Are the "otaku" keycaps different from normal keycaps in any way besides missing the print? If they had a different make that could explain the difference in noise when bottoming out.
(These are the print-less keycaps made by diatec/filco and for sale at keyboardco)
-Could i have hurt the switches in any way to cause this when changing keycaps to otaku?
-??? (Is there anything else that could be wrong)

So far i miss the click, but the browns are just so much smoother i don't understand how i they can both be mechanical keyboards, cherry brand switches and Filco keyboards with same backplating/PCB etc etc.
