Dye subbed Cherry G81-3100 US ansi keyboard
« on: Mon, 14 February 2011, 12:48:39 »
Just wondering would anyone be interested in this Cherry G81-3100 US ansi dye sublimated POS keyboard ?

Yes it's G81 this time around :bounce: Cherry MY switches, so the caps are compatible for Cherry MX as well. Dye Sublimated as you can see from the pictures.

Private message with offer if interested :}

PS: If you do get this, please consider getting the patch kit if you plan on using the caps on a more modern keyboard e.g. Filco, Cherry g80-3494, Ducky etc.

My guess: ~$200 or more. For me that's way too much to pay for a board I'm only going to steal the keycaps from.

wrong model. mines SPBUS. Basically it's the same thing for the dye subbed caps and both compatible with Cherry mx switches.

Anyway i'll list one first on ebay :}

Its not gonna matter afterwards either. Theres dozens of other sublimation dyed keycaps, yet Asian collectors only want the real deal from Cherry Corp.

I don't see why old keycaps that don't have much texture and pulled from MY switches for 200$+ a real deal. If there are dozens of other sublimation dyed mx keycaps then maybe you could enlight us with some information about them.

I would guess that the non-Cherry Corp MX-compatible dye subs are still more expensive than an SP group buy, but sixty please correct if I'm wrong. Please see the latest SP estimate for a 104 key dye sub set:

Quote
1 set $891.95 / set

5 sets $250.60 / set

10 sets $170.43 / set

25 sets $122.33 / set

50 sets $106.30 / set

75 sets $100.95 / set

100 sets $98.28 / set

There is a bunch on POS boards for alternative dye subs: KSI, some TG3, Tipro to name a few.

Most of these are extremely thin. The reason the original Cherry ones feel so good is because they are really thick PBT. Their texture is actually different from Cherry double shot keys and they last much longer. Best of all, they don't yellow either.
