I've decided to go back to this:

Instead of this:

For a couple of reasons.
Now, I liked the MX SPOS. I still do. But there are just a couple of things that hold me back. First, there's no NKRO. So when I recently found that binding caps lock to crouch in most games was more comfortable than ctrl, I ran into frequent blocking issues.
Also, the SPOS has only software macros, no hardware macros. Now some people question the need for having your macros stored on the keyboard. I point out that Cherry's software macros always bring up a little message window telling you that you just activated a macro. Which is especially annoying for, say, print screen since the window gets included in the screencap. Using AutoHotKey is a PITA, and Sharp Keys and registry hacking is annoying and limited, especially in regards to three byte keys like numlock and pause/break.
So for now it's back to the old reliable MX8000. It's ugly as sin, it's huge, and the ISO layout enter key drives me nuts. But I think that at core it's a better keyboard than the MX SPOS.
