Model M "slider/guide" (BLUE for numpad_+)
« on: Thu, 17 February 2011, 15:42:59 »
EDIT: I am looking for one of the BLUE "slide" or "guide" inserts for a IBM Model M. It is the piece that go in the second hole for numpad "+" or "enter" key.

Here is a picture of what I am looking for.

You need two different parts. A stabilizer barrel for a vertical key (eg numpad plus and Enter) is a different shape than a stabilizer barrel for a horizontal key like your right shift key.

You need one of each.

If I had extras right now I'd volunteer them.

RSI prevention recipe:[/B] Kinesis Contoured, Colemak layout, touch typing, Contour Design Rollermouse,  Logitech TrackMan Wheel, Logitech m570 trackball, "workrave" break timer software, "awesome" window manager, tenkeyless boards, cherry browns, Wang 724 with "ghetto green" ALPS, standing desk and/or comfy adjustable chairs, stress reduction, computer time reduction.

Fun non-ergonomic things: bolt modded Model M Space Saving Keyboards with new springs, Kensington Expert Mouse v7, Unicomp Endurapro, Northgates

Thanks, I didn't realize they were different. So I need one of each then.

I definitely have one of the white ones. I think I might have a blue one kicking around as well. I'd have to check, though. I definitely have the older style metal stabilizers for those keys, but yours might be too new to use those.

The white one is yours though, if you want.

Edit: looked at your mod post...yours is too new for the metal stabilizers. And I can't find a spare blue one.

send me a pm how to get these out of a donor board without disassembling the whole thing and you can have them from me. I have a few 1994 13901403 boards here for parts.

I just edited my original post. It ends up I only need one of the blue ones.

The other white one I thought I needed is actually for the empty slot under the spacebar, which doesn't have an alignment slider.

To get them out, all you have to do is get a pair of tweezers and grab them to pull them out.

I've found a blue one, so if you prefer to get it from the US, I have both for you.

Though, I'm only assuming the one from an ISO enter key is the same as from a numpad enter key.
