Big/Long Mouse mat
« on: Fri, 18 February 2011, 17:59:19 »
I am just wondering whether there is something that can cover most of my table especially my mouse and a tenkeyless kb?

I am currently using Archiss tenkeyless with Razer DeathAdder on a Goliathus control mouse mat.

Cheers.

Since you have a Goliathus I assume you like it...try this, then.

Goliathus Control Extended. I measured it last week, it's got enough room for a tenkeyless with plenty of room for a mouse.

Oh quick, you better tell him! He might not know!!!

He screwed it in upside down to the bottom part of the top shelf on the desk to bring it up to eye level.

@Lethal Squirrel: Check out the Ergotron Neo-Flex single monitor stand. $39.99, and you don't have to worry about anything happening to your monitor (if you bump the desk or drop something on the top shelf for example).

I like that mousepad a lot...about how large is it?? The amazon review says 18" wide, though I HIGHLY doubt that...it's probably more like 48" wide.

That looks nice. That might be exactly what I need. I like having the space below my monitor, but when the screen is upside down the contrast and color is all messed up.
when I get my new 120hz monitor soon, I think I will get that as well.

But the mousepad. It's actually is 18" wide and 36" long.

@digitalleftoevers Here is a better understanding of how my monitor is mounted

Aww damn I was hoping it'd be bigger. I think I'll just grab the Artisan Kai g3 Hien Hard/Large then!

The stand is pretty great...you can turn your monitor vertical or horizontal very easily. It's got a big spring in it, so pushing the monitors down takes a little work but lifting them up just needs a slight push with a singe finger.

It's not so much the size but the different material and feel. So while the ripper xxl might be a large deskpad hell if you had the desk space, you could probably use the entire pad for around 90cm/360.

But it's not suitable for all users and some might not like the thin feel to it nor the surface of it.

Bwahahaha - you call THIS large:

You must have a small penis.

I also had to trim the SuperXXL to fit my oversize keyboard tray.

LOLOL...you know what they say about large desks ;)

LARGE MOUSEPADS!

Hahah... :p I would like a mousepad to stick both my monitors, 3 speakers, keyboard, and mouse on...so as a desk lining pretty much. If I can't find one large enough I'll get the Artisan Kai large instead, to use just for the mouse. Make sense now?

I still think the ripper xxl is big enough for that. It's something that you would really have to see in person to realize the epic hugeness

Why would you want such a large pad? :(

For most users and most gamers they would consider this pad a deskpad. Similar to what lawyers and bankers have on their desk with those leather style deskpad. They would mostly consider it to be a fancy cushion for their hands, arms, and wrists.

For some gamers though, which there is a demand for ever larger mouse pads. This mousepad falls on the category of either quite comfortable for their sensitivity or great for lowering their sensitivity even further and testing out even lower sensitivity. In other words they can take the entire mousepad and slice it up into their given sensitivity ex: they use 30cm/360 and they have in total 3, 360 degree turns a 1080. Or they just lower their sensitivity even further maybe even the whole size which would be about 90cm/360.

But as I said in the first page of this thread. Just because the ripper pad is so big doesn't mean anything if the gamer who has it doesn't like the surface of it. Plus it's thin not all gamers like thin pads, some might want a little more backing for the surface.

Aside from that the only issue I would see is if the person didn't have a big enough table then they couldn't really use the mousepad to it's full length. In a way your right it is kinda awkward to use such a long mousepad. Some might say either raise your sensitivity or learn to lift off your mouse move it to the start of the mousepad and sweep again to complete the turn as fast as possible.

It's nice to not worry about your mouse sliding off the pad. Also your keyboard can sit on it as well, making it more stable and less likely to slide around. The mouse pad won't slide either. It will also make the noise of the keyboard resonate though the desk less.

I might have to get it for my keyboard then...my new filco has a bit of a lean to it that goes away when it's on a mousepad. I'll look into the Ripper XXL...but I just got my Artisan Kai! Siiigh

the keyboard half way on the mouse pad is what made me give up using a mouse pad. then I found the XXL. Can't go wrong with it.

My filco doesn't sit on my mousepad at all...it's just got a bit of a lean to it. Though that could be from the cold.

At one point, I went nuts and had 3 Ripper XXLs on my desk and was trying to find out from Xtrac if they could custom make me a pad to cover my entire desk.

I came to my senses when I realized my personal cleanliness and hygiene was nowhere near good enough to keep a 3.5x1.5m dust magnet anywhere near presentable.  If they could just make a trackpad in grey...

Also, they very quickly fray at the edges.

Another alternative to Rippers are the extremely large Corepad mousepads, probably equivalent to the Ripper XXL in size. I bought a Corepad C1 XXL a few years ago on clearance special for $20AUD but don't use it anymore. Corepads are probably more readily available in Europe though.
