Diatec lists this new "Majestouch 2" Tenkeyless using news PCB and "improved feel". It is listed in four different European layouts. Does anyone know when the US layout is coming out?

I don't believe there will be a US layout. I believe Filco is being scaled back. But that is only my personal belief. I have no facts to back it up.

(At least I'm honest).

ohhh, majestouch 2!

seeing how they're using a new PCB design the ANSI 87 is probably going to take a while longer, they'll make it eventually.

The same PCB could be designed to accommodate both types, I think.

They just came out with "Majestouch 2" and you think they are scaling back?

Are they saying the switches will be PCB mounted? I couldn't quite parse the Japanglish, and there is no native Japanese version for comparison.

Seriously, I think only those PCB lovers like KL and ItlnStln will feel any difference from the PCB having more layers.  Even the Japanese fall prey to Marketing Gold USB Connectors sometime.

They say the switch is now attached not only to plate but also to PCB or something like that. Which supposedly makes key presses softer with less vibration?

Hope it will take ages to release this "2" version in 104 US so I won't feel bad about just having bought one ;)

Through hole soldering, I wonder what that means to people who's gonna repair or replace switches..

Looking at the picture, there seems to be presence of a metal plate.

If you can live with the ISO layout, then the choice is obvious.

Yeah, I dislike that, but could cope. Either way, I'm gonna wait for EK and the inevitable loads of reviews/comparisons.

Better key caps and removable-cable make the Leopold a better choice in my book.  That is, unless Diatec did something to improve the caps, but it doesn't appear like they did.

That's not the same model number. Those are regular Majestouch, not Majestouch 2.

It's really nice. I haven't got any other Filco to compare against but it's solid. Better to type on than my other cherry keyboards.

After about 2 weeks use there might be a bit of shininess on the spacebar. The |\ key to the right of the left shift seems a bit misaligned as well. Nothing you'd notice while typing though.

That key is misaligned because it shouldn't even be there on a proper keyboard...

That's key orientation the HHKB way, maybe it's a trend.

EDIT: Forgot to ask - is the ESC cutout (in the upper frame) now symmetrical?

FK87MC/EB that I have has the ESC slightly off-center horizontally, by about 0.5mm. This makes for a bigger gap on the right of the key, but you have to be really staring to see it.

From the picture it seems it's fixed now. Go, Diatec, go!

Thanks for pic, Garry.

The switches sit lower in the Filco case especially the F-keys. The Leopold case is ugly and the keyboard slides over the desk.
The new Filco FR4 dual pcb is awesome.
Finally the Leopold spacebar is a pain in the ass if you intend to replace the keycaps.

I remember that someone mentioned that in his review. Ironically, he sold all his keyboards and bought a Realforce, which you can obviously see the small gaps between the keycaps and the case. =)

I would choose the new Filco with the better? PCB. Soldering jobs are easier on PCB with higher quality.
