http://bbs.kbc-china.com/thread-5197-1-1.html

roughly translated, they're going to release official prices on this one today. This is the PCB mounted version and they will do a group buy in mid-March with lower prices.

I'm still waiting on the plate mounted version but I wouldn't mind owning a red switch one. Anyone care to let us GHer's join in on this somehow? :)

Aside from the KBC Poker keyboard, Filco released a red switch keyboard as well. Some sort of special edition and expensive as hell but still. Leopold will also be releasing red switches in their new lineup of keyboards.

So no, red switches are not rare anymore and will be readily available in the coming months.

I also doubt that the Filco with red switches will not be a limited run, but become a permanent product. That's what has happened with quite a few Filco limited editions.

Expensive is right.
OBOOK quoted me 2,129.55 HKD for the Filco Tenkeyless Red!

That is expensive. The KBC Poker with reds might be just half of that.

I didn't know them. - First I had to educate myself
Geekhack wiki - cherry MX

Then I found this for the whole RED story:
http://deskthority.net/wiki/index.php/Cherry_MX_Red

The key words with RED are Linear and light (45cN)

I have a Black MX (60cN) Deck and I know 45cN would be too light for my fat fingers. No wonder I like the IBM Buckling Springs (60cN-80cN) so much.

I prefer plate mounted.  This may be an option though depending on the price.  My problem is that it's such a pain to order this stuff.  Wish there was a US site.

Easy to say for someone who can actually read that stuff.
Speaking of translation, how much that "300" means in USD?

$45. Though I think this is just a pre-order fee or something, not the price for the full keyboard.

I have a feeling, from the rough google translation "KBC full keyboard replacement of independent products Poker freight users themselves red shaft" that the seller requires you to send him the KBC Poker and he installs the red switches for you. He doesn't supply the keyboard! If you can, I'd cancel that order!

That pic sure does get a lot of usage around here.  I personally can't wait for the supply to outstrip the demand so I can pick up some red switches for cheap.  :P

You can always rip out the clicky/tactile leaves out of some Alps and get a fairly light (albeit wobbly) linear switch.
