Dunno. Might pick up a first gen iPad since they're going cheap on the Apple store at the minute. But the dual core A5 is of course a decent upgrade for ipad 2.

That said, my MBP hardly gets used at all at the minute. I do nearly everything on the iMac. So getting an iPad would be getting one for the sake of getting one. I don't see how it could improve over what I do on the iMac to make me use it more considering my lack of use of the MBP.

Sell the MBP and buy an iPad :)

I'm getting one. Bought an iPad 1 for my GF but don't get a chance to use it :D
Nifty little thing, GF commutes (I mainly work at home) so it's quite a bit more useful for her than for me, but still really nice to read up on things and it's a great toy :)

I have been denying the wife a gen 1 due to the impending announcement, and it looks like I had good reason. Put her down for one.

lol, I feel ya on the Android 3. But I have to say Honeycomb was a big disappointment. Though, it's really early so I hope it will improve.

This is coming from an Android Phone User

I have heard that there will be a new one towards the end of this year, so it may be worth waiting further!

I was surprised that Steve Jobs did the announcement, It was a missed opportunity to enhance the profile of someone else at apple.

This. I don't think it's any more portable than a small netbook, and by far it is much worse to type on. Also the prices are just ridiculous on these things with an apple that has had a bit bitten out of it stamped on the back. You can actually buy 2 decent netbooks with the price of one 16gb iPad here in Finland.

I won't deny that some Apple products are pretty cool (small iPods, big ass iMacs), but it's mostly overglossed, overpriced and doesn't "just work" harmoniously with one another. My friend is an Apple nut. I have less trouble with my generic **** than he has with all his Apple gizmos.

What do you expect, when "working harmoniously" depends on (bad) proprietary software.

Do you have any idea how long it took me to notice the old guy in the back ground of that picture? It definitely makes the scene though.

As a Mac user, I'd just like to say that Steve Jobs is an egotistical *******. He wouldn't have missed this if he'd been on his death bed. He'd have made them wheel him into the auditorium so he could bask in all his glory.

I'm pretty sure the reason he doesn't donate to charity like Bill Gates is because secretly he is funding Boston Dynamics research. When he dies he'll have his brain transplanted into a brushed aluminium robot and continue his reign at Apple.

i just like the touch screen scrolling and zooming.  is that implemented in any pc with good quality ?

Yeah, all android phones do support multitouch, but it's kind of a pain to get it to work right away, you'll need to hack it to get root access, but it's not to much of a problem. I have done it to my Samsung moment without a hitch, wifi tether, multitouch, removing the junk programs, etc. Very fast and snappy, better than my friends iPhone, and whenever he goes to type something, I laugh at how small his screen gets.

As I am an owner of an iPod touch, I can say that I really don't like it that much, it plays my music and thats about it. Even if the quality sucks compared to what comes through the computer, or my Samsung, it's apple's awful quality of it's products for you. And as I have $200+ headphones, I really like sound quality, and the iPod just doesn't deliver, especially since it wont play my flac format songs, and I refuse to use apple lossless.
