IBM 1397000 122 key
« on: Fri, 11 March 2011, 17:25:52 »
These are terminal emulator keyboards, usable on a standard PC via PS/2. Ripster's review can be seen here.

Would anyone be interested in obtaining one? I have access to a supply of about 12 of them, if people are interested.

If enough people are interested, I will snag them, clean and bolt mod them. If requested, I can add the springs and hammers for a horizontal Enter key and/or a split backspace key (UNIX/HHKB layout). I have a few of the necessary keys, but they are on a first come/first serve basis.

Looking to sell them for about $50/piece, plus shipping. Prefer CONUS, but will ship worldwide.

What is shipping to Finland? Intrest in one with original ISO-style layout.
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

I probably would; I prefer the ISO layout, so there'd be no need to move any hammers. Shipping to the UK would probably cost a bit, though.

Guestimating the size of the box to be sent to finland, looks like about $55. The UK looks about the same.

I'm game, if you are.

Edit: Just a thought, but if enough Europeans are interested, and one of you is willing, I might be able to just bulk ship to one, and have that person distribute them through Europe. I don't know if that would be any cheaper though, with import duties and the size the box would need to be.

Probably, have to find some country with both low tax and low shipping rates.

105$ a nasty number, but still I might be ready for that, got those dimensions anywhere?

Unless IBM changed the specs without changing the model number (which can happen, obviously), these do send unique scancodes. I will verify as soon as I get the first couple.

Yes, I think I could find $105. I wouldn't be prepared to get tangled up with splitting up bulk shipments, though.

It isn't necessary, it was just a thought that might save some folks some money. I think I would actually prefer to send them individually, anyway.

Chain of custody, and all that.

I'm ok with group shipment, if there is more intrest in EU for this sort of thing.

Still the price of both shipping cost would need to be cheaper, than individual... Not sure how big intrest there is for these in EU...

I'm not sure either. But since they are in essentially ISO layout (physically identical to the swedish layout, it looked like), I thought there might be, since localized BS keyboards appear to be difficult to find.

I might be interested in one. $105 shipped to Sweden does sound kind of high though.

Will you be able to take some pictures?

As soon as I pick up the first batch, I will post pictures and answer any other questions. I should have them midweek or so.

Just as a heads up, the condition on these is apparently "new, open box". They've just been sitting in a warehouse for years. I have 2 on the way to take pictures and verify condition.

Assuming they are in good enough condition, and are what I believe them to be, I'll post greater details, and we can actually start collecting names and such for who wants them and how many.

Hopefully it can all be finalized by the weekend, and I can pick up the correct number that I need next time I'm in the area.

Got any left, theferenc? I'm considering a backup for my 122-key Unicomp or I'll see if my cow-orker is interested.

I've got a related one, a Lexmark. I guarantee you they're great, but you have to use the ps2 cable to use all the 122 keys. Using that SDL to USB cable from Orihalcon ain't gonna work.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.
