... at least for me. I just got yet another model M that was given to me bt a guy who saw a post I made almost 8 months ago. I have since pulled the posting) He sent me an email asking if I had gotten a model M or if I was still interested in getting one. I told him that I had finally gotten a couple and no I really didn't need another one, but he insisted that he send it to me becaause he was getting too old and didn't want to throw it out.
It is supposed to be a 1992 model. The keyboard case has a gray label, but the part # doesn't match what I think it should be. (The label reads exactly as I have it below.) Even the date format is kind of odd.
During cleaning I also noticed that the keys under the key caps are in two colors too, some are white, while the rest are gray. Is it possible that this board has been pieced together from several others? I really don't care if it is Frankensteined together, but I would like to know what I really have. I am passing it along with another of my 1987 models to a friend of mine and would like to be able to tell him what he is getting.

When all is said and done, I will be down to only 2 of these boards. There is one more I am trying to get my hands on and then I will be looking at getting getting the rest of an IBM PC ATX or PS2 to use the other one with. My wife loves her 87 model M keyboard and since it has all new springs and a bolt mod, it should last a very long time. I also have a buyer at work who wants the remaining 87 I found after I cleaned it up and checked it out. That will leave me with 2. My 1989 and a 1987. If I can get the black label model M I want and have mi eyes on. That one has a manufacture date of 1985! If I can get this one, I will stop looking for any more of these keyboards. I think I have enough for now.
