MX Brown vs MX Brown
« on: Tue, 15 March 2011, 08:44:02 »
I  just got my XArmor U9BL-S which is my first MX Brown board.

I'm wondering if there is a big difference in the various Brown implementations as far as  sound is concern.

Anyone with Both a U9BL-S and a DAS S PRO Silent or anything else mechanical also pretending to be quiet?

How would you compare the sound of both?

Thanks.

I had a cherry MX brown PLU ML-87 and Noppoo Choc Mini with Browns as well. There sounds were very different. I liked the sound of PLU ML-87 a lot more because it felt like a lower pitched click, the Noppoo on the other hand was very different. Its hard to explain so I am not going to do it. It seems like the sound could be affected by the types of keycaps used.

I have a Filco brown and a Ducky 1087 brown and when I typed on the Ducky it sounded like typing on a cheap plastic toy compared to the Filco. The sounds the Filco made were much more solid, while the sound on the Ducky felt like it wasn't well built.
I\'m a tool.

Thanks guys! If I decide to go with another Brown MX, I'll keep that in mind.
Audio samples are cool but depends so much of the various recording conditions. Unless you compare two recordings done in the same environment. It's very difficult to objectively gauge the difference.

Would you agree that DAS' and Filco's sound pretty much the same?

Yep.  Sound samples are (...)

Thanks!!!!! The MEGA sample is great!

Btw, in real, the XArmor UB9L-S with MX Brown sounds damper than the recording of the Filco MX Brown.

sure, the entire structural design and the material used for the components would have a thing or two to do with the final acoustic character of the keyboard. Brown switch keys are actually pretty quiet if you get rid of the keyboard enclosure
