This is my 888th post and thus deserves celebration. I for one do not like to waste important post events (first post, 888th post, 8888th post, etc) on frivolous things.... so... let us all celebrate!

8's are lucky/prosperous numbers in chinese, the more the merrier.
how crazy are numbers? i remember a decade ago in chinatown, stores that sold beepers/pagers and cellphones always requested 3 phone numbers to choose from. The reason? to choose a number with as many 8's as possible and as few 4's as possible.

i remember when i got my first cell phone when i was 18 (which was huge back in 98) my mom didn't care that i was spending 70bucks a month or i was perceived as a gangster with a cellphone, she just said "do not get a cellphone with more than one, "4"s in it" (she said this for my first pager a year back too, but i doubt anyone even remember's what a pager was!)
