Ducky 9008-G2 NKRO Over USB Cherry MX Blue
« on: Sat, 26 March 2011, 20:52:27 »
Update - If this doesn't sell by Tuesday. I will just return it to the Ducky ebay Seller

I do hate selling gifts given to me, but it doesn't seem I will be joining the PC world again soon so I must sell this keyboard since it is not compatible with Apple computers.

This keyboard is almost brand new. I opened and used it only once just to try it out. It has been sitting in my house since. I thought I was going to get a gaming PC but it doesn't seem that is going to happen anymore.

This is a full size keyboard and is the special Ducky Year of the Tiger Edition.

Some of the keyboards features are (reading straight off the box)

- Full NKRO over USB
- Engraved PBT keycaps (which are very nice)
- Windows lock function
- Dual Layered PCB Construction.
- Removable Micro USB Cable

This special edition also comes with a keyring puller, lavender WASD, Two Red Ducky keycaps and a Ducky Bag.

I am asking for $160 shipped. Offers are welcomed

I have had both, but the older 9008. The 9008 feels more solid, it is a more robust keyboard. The plate in the 1087 is thinner I believe, it will flex from my paws of awesome.

The interest in this keyboard is crazy BUT,

If this doesn't sell by Tuesday. I will just return it to the Ducky ebay Seller because I can get at least $160 back from that.

I would rather sell it to a fellow Geekhacker though!

That's good news. I was afraid it would be like the 1087 which is very flimsy feeling.

I've never heard of getting nkro over usb due to the way USB vs. ps2 works. Does this keyboard use some sort of different tech that allows it? Sorry if this is a dumb question...

Yes, it uses the same NKRO over USB tech that the Choc Mini uses that makes it not work correctly on OS X, but fine in Windows.

From a completely unscientific method using memory and simply lifting the keyboard, the 9008 is pretty close to the Filco in weight.  Maybe if you had them sitting side by side, you might be able to tell, but according to some folks who would be in the know, the 9008 is OEMed through Costar who makes the Filco 'boards, so the quality and certain design elements are fairly similar.  If the 9008 does, in fact, have an aluminum plate, then it will probably weight a little less, but not so that you would notice by feel.  Between the weight and the stout rubber feet, it won't be moving around your desk at all.  You would be doing yourself a favor in getting this 'board.  I really enjoy my 9008 and have a G2 with browns coming tomorrow or Wednesday.

I know I might be evangelizing a bit, but IMO, the 9008 is the best full-size Cherry 'board on the market.  The new Leopolds would be the only thing on the market soon that might be close or better.  It's definitely better than Filco, IMO.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one my friend because the Ducky has the horrible OFF CENTER ESC Key and the Friction Lock feet do not instill "quality". However we must all remain vigilant and realize that our needs are all different and such I would say the ducky is the best full size board that has function keys.

I never got your pm. Resend it if you are still interested

This will still be available since the Ducky eBay seller still hasn't responded to my return request. Tuesday was an estimate for his reponse, time for negative feedback.
