IBM Model M Membrane Sticky?

Disassembling a model M, but the membrane is 'stuck' to the metal backplate. Is this intentional and can I unstick it? ibm 1390136

It's not intentional.

That adhesive is more likely Pabst than 3M. It's an aftermarket addition.

If the membrane doesn't peel off easily, you could try water to dissolve the goo. Good luck.

RSI prevention recipe:[/B] Kinesis Contoured, Colemak layout, touch typing, Contour Design Rollermouse,  Logitech TrackMan Wheel, Logitech m570 trackball, "workrave" break timer software, "awesome" window manager, tenkeyless boards, cherry browns, Wang 724 with "ghetto green" ALPS, standing desk and/or comfy adjustable chairs, stress reduction, computer time reduction.

ok, I've done the bolt mod. But for some strange reason, 60% of the keys don't work? They buckle, but don't ACTUALLY do anything. Any ideas?
